I try to keep my weight loss to 1 pound/wk (2 on some rare occasions). I don't really have a magic calorie number to get there, as my body tends to do its own thing on occassion. I just start cutting, weigh in on Thur to see my progress, and adjust accordingly to reach my goal on Sunday.

I start at maintainence and up my workouts a touch for the first 2 weeks, and I ususally lose 1-2 lbs in those 2 weeks. After that, I add 100 or 200 cals for maintainence and start over. I can generally do this twice, then I have to drop a few cals to drop weight. But I like to keep around maintainence and tweek things.
