lol @ Kyrgios
Should have won that match, but imploded. right on cue
But srsly, at the end , he swore at, spit in the direction of, and refused to shake hands with the umpire
Quite disgraceful. Expect a big fine. If i was the ATP , I would suspend him.

You knew it was coming because he has a couple of meltdowns a year. Also by all means rustle the Bull when he's still in the tournament but he needs to stop bringing him up when he guy is thousands of miles away on a fishing boat in Majorca.
Nadal is living in his head rent free.
There will be a fine but no suspension this time of year with the US Open and now the ATP sanctioned Laver Cup around the corner.
Imagine Laver Cup with no Kyrgios. Might as well just close up shop because it'd be a meaningless exo. No one's going to buy tickets to watch the best in the world annihilate a bunch of Top 100 US players.

Jesus Christ Nick.... what a waste of time. Had that match in the palm of his hand and just threw it away... and for what? Because he thought the chair was calling the shot clock too fast on him? Which never really impacts him anyway? Idiot... He has to get over this grudge with Fergus Murphy (who I thought did an exceptional job of being very patient). It’s embarrassing. The crowd was actually behind Nick for most of the match too in spite of his antics... one step forward... one step back... same old Nick. So much for a Joker/Nick QF... smh.
Full credit to Khachanov too... can’t have been easy to stay focused through that circus last night.
Re: Laver Cup... they might have to scrap this current “Europe vs The World” format and go the route of the NBA all star game... take the 2 top players, make them captains and have them choose teams.

Wouldn't surprise me if he was looking to duck him anyway. It's a shame he's not in the bottom half which Rafa wrecked. At Washington someone asked Kyrgios to sign a shirt with NOVAK on it. I'm sure this stuff gets back to the man himself and he's not going to let him go 3-0.
Good idea. In its current form it's a farce and only an in form Delpo, Nishikori, and Kyrgios could make it respectable. Back in the 80s and 90s it would have been one way traffic for the US team — now it's the other way around.

No way that Shapo should be there given his current form.... I would have expected Felix instead (who they just might end up taking anyway). May as well throw in Shwartzmann too who can be scrappy and fun to watch.
If they REALLY want to give the World team a chance they should play on indoor carpet or at least a superfast HC. That would at least even the odds a bit.

So after 4 days you still can't furnish this thread with a list of clay specialists?
Does this mean you're admitting that his only competition for practically his entire career on clay was Djokovic and Federer on their worst surface who he only faced in the final two rounds?
Djokovic and Federer don't peak for clay. They've never taken months off or skipped HC tournaments to peak for clay. They're too busy winning titles against the strongest competition and starting and ending the season strong, you know like winning 13 AO titles and 11 ATP Finals to Nadal's 1 and 0.
It's time to admit Nadal is the ultimate vulture considering nearly 70% of his slams and M1000s have come on the least competitive surface.

Meanwhile in the real world, Medvedev is through to the QF easily in Cinci.
Dude is a machine, going hard AF grinding the rest of the tour to dust. Only one of the big guns or someone on fire is stopping him rn but his consistency is the amazing part. Dude is just consistently winning day in day out.
Don't forget dude barely won a clay court match in his life too before this year where he backed up a Monte Carlo SF with a Barca F. Lost the plot (bolded) a little after that, but is back in form. Only guy to give Djoker trouble in Australia, beat him at Monte Carlo. His only real shame is losing 3 finals and that early loss at Roland Garros.
His season so far:
Brisbane F (loss to Nishi)
Aus Open r4 (loss to Djoker)
Sofia W
Rotterdam SF (loss to Monfils)
***** r1 (loss to Fucsovic)
Indian Wells r2 (loss to Krajinovic)
Miami r3 (loss to Fed)
Monte Carlo SF (loss to Lajovic)
Barca F (loss to Thiem)
Madrid r1 (loss to Pella)
Rome r1 (loss to Kyrgios)
Roland Garros r1 (loss to Herbert in 5)
Stuttgart r2 (loss to Pouille)
Queens SF (loss to Simon)
Wimby r3 (loss to Goffin)
Washington F (loss to Kyrgios)
Montreal F (loss to Nadal)

Well so much for Fed.... not sure where TF Rublev pulled this level of play from. Kudos to him.
Tourney organizers tearing their hair out lol..... no Fed... no Nick... no Stan.... No Tsitsipas... no Zverev.... no Delpo... no Rafa.... no Murray.... no American player to get behind.... just gonna be another easy win for Joker.
People prob selling off their semifinal tickets as we speak.

Couldn't possibly be more sick of Serena drama stories and big 3 wankery lmao.
Funny to think Medvedev 3 years ago was DQ'd for racism against Donald Young. Now he's having an amazing year, consistent all around and even made things alright with Tsitsipas.
In other news, Murray plays Sendgren tonight in Winston-Salem, I'm hoping he can pull it out and get some form going.

He said he was cramping up while serving for the match after 3 straight weeks of finals. Would be a shame if he gets a tough draw and crashes out. The sport needs a few different names in the second week to change a tired old script.
Djokovic hasn't missed the semis since 2006 so landing in his section of the draw is a death sentence.

He should be OK as number 5 seed. Guaranteed some soft earlier rounds, with maybe one or two banana peels if he gets a bad draw. But he has proven that even when tired after 3 weeks of non stop tennis his average level is still good enough to straight set everyone outside the top 20.
If he goes out in the QF that's still a good result for him. His best result was R4 in Australia this year.
