After seeing this thread evolve through the past pages - it seems the same opinion is always biased, and I think it's really a matter of perspective. Either way, people keep underestimating the "other" animal. If you look at an "upscaled" fight - of a cougar VS a bear for instance, you can see that wild felines are clearly multi-faceted with offensive abilities to animals that are much larger than their size. You just don't see them attacking every damn thing and running away - b/c they pick their fights. They're hunters, not fighters.
A feline can hold its ground, and if you really think a 15-20 lb weight difference and single-faceted "charge" attack from a pitbull isn't going to be easily countered... then I dunno what to say. A pitbull CAN win the fight based off its jaw-power, but it won't everytime.
In a cougar vs. wolf fight, for instance, both animals are about the same weight - but obviously the wolf doesn't even stand a chance b/c of how adept felines are:

Ok regarding pitbull lockjaw!... its a myth, at least according to one doctor. We all know they can bite and hold on for long periods of time, but there appears to be no anatomic evidence of a mechanism that actually allows it to be locked.

I take back that part of my post, but still negged one guy for being a dick about it.

bobcat can box like no other though...
also people are talking about hundreds of years of breeding...what about thousands of years of evolution to go for the kill/go for the throat and dont let go
you guys ever see those nature vids of mother cheetahs finding a young antelope and taking it back to her cubs to practice hunting, she smack her own cubs around if they went for any bight but the neck...
of course you have to breed fighting into a domesticated animal...but why is ur training better than 1000 years of evolution en-routed into the cats DNA??S&P OG.....

pitbulls were bred to draw out bears and wolves. then to dogfight. Wolves have less muscle mass. Cougars have a **** ton of bunched muscle. Cougar vs any dog species would probably end bad. but a bobcat is literally the asswipe of the wild cat species. I'd be more scared of a domestic dog chasing me than a bobcat... And I've had both do it. Srs. Unless people are talking about some sort of bobcat that isn't native to the Southeast, they arent ****.

giant hyena things evolved into racoons. sabretooth tigers evolved into possums... evolution doesn't mean becoming stronger, it means if you can lick ******* residue off a tree stump and survive, you will, even if your ancestor was a huge badass that ate chuck norris clones for sport.

not all felines hunt solo
lions sometimes hunt in packs, if it involves taking down larger animals.
I gotta agree with this, also having owned dogs and cats for years I gotta attest that cats are just so much more efficient at hunting. Everything in a cat is to make it a perfect hunter, it is amazing.

Game pit vs Bob cat, same weight:
The cat will win about 90 percent of the time.
Game pits "training" means nothing when the other animal is not another dog. The difference between a "game" pit and a regular pit is the willingness to stay in the fight , nothing else.
The aggression and willingless to fight of a pit will mean nothing if he is incapable of doing serious damage because hes bleeding to death from all angles. He'll just be a limping dog trying to bite the victorious cat.
Anyone who says "lockjaw" should leave this thread immediately. No such thing.

uhhh, a pit that was the same weight as any bobcat wouldn't even be fully grown.. that's like saying a 50 lb grown tarantula would take out a pitbull.
and no, pits do not have lockjaw. but they do have some of the strongest jaw pressure in dog breeds. Crocodiles/alligators/sharks don't have lockjaw either, but good luck getting one of those off you.Lifts:

buddy, being wild does have greatly improved advantages.
you think a wild boar is just a nice and friendly as your grandmothers pot belly pig? i think not.
i dont know who would win with a TRAINED pit or a bcat, put them in a small cage, pit most likely will over power and end up getting its neck... put them in the wild, cat would stalk the pit, and use its agility, speed, claws and sharp teeth and most likely prevail...
both animals have their own way of doing business and they are both very good at what they're taught.
biggest bobcat ever taken during hunting was 48 pounds.
you find a bobcat of that size & ill put 2 paychecks on it.

Lulz, I find that funny, since my sister's rottweiler that she's had since it was a puppy killed a wild boar and left it's body in their pond. and it has hip problems to boot. dog didn't have a scratch on it. it also takes down coyotes that get to close to the house. And saying putting a pit in the wild is like saying you're putting a bobcat into a 10x10 fence with a pit.

Lol that's awesome brah, was not aware that it did dog shows though. Only knew the name from forums. Guess we learn something new every day lol. What people seem to be missing ITT is the fact that
WHERE THE ANIMALS ARE FIGHTING MATTERS. in the wild the cat will win as it's used to navigating around the trees and will eventually blindside the pit. In a flat ground area where the cat can't hide the pit has an advantage.
But yeah some day I would love to own a pit again or an aussie Shepard, when I move out of Dade since they're illegal hereSmall Wrists Crew
