Since it's uber nice out today, I went pussy hunting and not surprisingly, ended up near my beer store. Went in, walked out with a few old faithfuls and the DBA. Growler is Daytime and it's even more excellent on tap. The Flower Power was brewed within the last 4 days :fawkyeah:

Bell's Java Stout sho am good. Strong coffee aroma and taste so stay away if you dislike coffee because it doesn't have a whole lot else going on. Subtle chocolate, cream, and roasted malt also.

Lame.
Last time I was in NYC, I was at MSG for the Dispatch Zimbabwe show and I remember pounding the HELL out of some boston lagers there. But I was about 10 sheets to the wind those three nights. Could have easily drank bud or miller over that series.... sadly.
Hate. Never got to try that one.
BTW, Firestone Union Jack freaking SUCKS.
I would give it a negative 5.0 on the beer advocate scale.
Or a negative 99 on rate beer.Official Supp. Misc Beer Policeman

Well, I'm a cheating POS all the time so it doesn't matter.
And MSG's best beer, at least at that time, was in fact Sams lager. I guess even drunk, I wouldn't lower myself to that level... though I really didn't have enough money to eat when I was in NYC then

Bottled my Head Hunters IPA clone tonight. Used a grain bag over my autosiphon, and the beer was fuking clear as hell. I think I like bottling with starsan a bit more than one step, despite the foam sea in my counter after use.
Currently sipping on this. This is a year old right now(first reviews were in last Nov last year). Fuking awesome. The #100 had english pale malt and you really get some more nutty breadiness out of it, with all of the insane robust dark chocolate and molasses etc. DAMN

They have one store getting the packs in Birmingham according to the distribution list I saw which is an hour away. Anyone know if you normally reserve them or have to get in line or get to the store right when they open in order to get one? Not even sure I would go out of my way to try and get it but was just curious.

From Alpine:
So, we now call what some were calling “Double Nelson” “Keene Idea.” Dave Keene is the owner of The Toronado Pub in San Francisco. We will be releasing this special 9% abv Double IPA sometime late next week. ...Some will make its way to San Francisco as well.

Was supposed to come either last year or earlier this year. If you want to actually support the trappist cause "properly" then this is your only time to buy it if you never plan on going to the monastery in Belgium.

I have some merry monk and winter ale from them. i think merry monk is a top for me.
I was always apprehensive to pick anything of theirs up since it looked over the top with labeling. I was pleasantly surprised though
Tonight I shall be trying

Every Stoudts beer I've ever had was torrentially bad. I'm too afraid to try anything else from them, much like Abita.
I believe someone the past few weeks was talking about that Flying Dog stout. I feel like I've had it in the past but I don't remember exactly if it was that or another oyster stout.Official Supp. Misc Beer Policeman

got damn this is a COMPLETELY different beer at 5 days old, or younger.... Tastes a little like 1000ibu but better.... Imagine chewing on straight hops or hop pellets. lawd. IDK if it's better overall this fresh; the last batch I had which I sent to I believe waffle and fugitive, I think was better, honestly.Official Supp. Misc Beer Policeman

Nope and nope.
Westy was extremely underwhelming for me. I would rather have Pannepot or St. Bernardus Abt 12 any day.
The Westy I had was about a year old at the time, some people told me I should have waited a few years. Fukk that, I'm all for experimenting with age but a top rated beer should be good right when it's bottled.
I will be passing, especially since I have a bottle still.
