What do you guys use for flooring in your home gym? I'm setting up in the garage and need to protect the concrete. I was thinking of laying down some short carpet over most of the area & a couple horse mats for dead lifts. The carpet is in storage, so I would have to buy are the rubber mats.

Here's the dip handles I made. It's just 1" black pipe with 90's on the ends. They set down on the 3/4" bolts nice and snug with no play. Distance between the holes is 22".

Do you replace those black pipes everytime you dip?

Thanks. If you pull up, they'll obviously come up, but nobody really pulls up on dips. Maybe if you came up real fast and made them hop.
He he, nah. The flexural strength on 1" steel black pipe is definitely > 450lbs. I put my barbell and some weights totalling about 300lbs on it + my body weight around 170lbs and it was fine - no bending.
Yeah, I thought about the "tipping" effect as well, but once I smoothed the bottoms of the 90s that mate with the safeties with a bench grinder, it's steady as a rock. When I'm on it, I tried twisting my wrists to try to get it to wobble and couldn't. Yeah, the pipe 90s sit on the washers and the nuts keep the tension so there's no lateral play.
Funny you posted that pic. I thought of that exact design when brainstorming. I didn't want to bug my neighbor about welding something for me again. In the future, I may do something similar, but angle the bars in around the mid point to allow even more flexibility in targeting specific muscle groups.

Does anyone use any software apps to help with the interior design and spacing considerations of home gyms?

thanks =)
One day, I'm going to order the rubber cleaner and coat from ivanko and refinish them http://www.ivankobarbell.com/sp80body.htm
I don't really mind though. Also wanna put a nail on the squat stand where I can hang my collars. It's going to be cool =)

However, we are moving into a warehouse and running our own gym in the next few weeks, primarily training football kids.

I doubt it'll tip with that much concrete, but re-racking the weight could get interesting if your tired. The platform looks amazing though.
How much does that big tire weigh CYTX?

I don't squat that much If I did, a heavier duty squat or power rack with spotting mechanisms would be one of the first things I definitely wouldn't skimp on. These serve my purpose for now =]

Picked up some bumpers and training plates a couple days back
unfortunately its not really enough weight, but its better than nothing I guess.
25s and 10s
5 lb training plates
and I finished painting my dumbbells and using the uni-paint marker that was recommended.
oh and have some 1.5" rope but not exactly sure how I can hook it up to a tree in a park, and then take it apart to bring home.. any ideas? its 25'

great job !!
nice bumpers, !
I'm still working on " throwing a rope " over a tree branch
but HOW to unlossen it is the ? .
Some kind of " U " bracket upside down
or a " J or L " pair , or even a " Y " to catch between the spilt of the branches .
understand ? because yuo dont want to live the rope there
or get it all wet .
what about a " T " shape made out of " 4 x 4's " screwed and gorilla glued ?
with a 1-5/8 " hole drilled ? like a doorknob " HOLE "
and tie the rope off , or with knot ?
I'm 285 lbs , id probaly break that ,,,,,,
some thoughts to use and fiddle with,
sorry,
