    V05 FTW!

    I use:

It's somewhere between wax and gel. Been using it for years now and I usually have a fauxhawk.
Not sure if you can get it in the states though.

Ok, I'll tell you guys my secret product.

Background. I have thick black hair that gets really wavy. It's so thick, that I can flip it up in the front without using gel or anything. Just shower and blow dry front up, and it stays up LOL

Most gels and pomade that people recommend don't work on me. It doesn't keep hair spiked, or if it does, it still starts curling and doesn't go straight. American Crew is weak like cheap gel on my hair.

The best pomade I ever used was Murray's.

BUT it is HORRIBLE to get out of my hair. I have to soak my head for 10 minutes in olive oil, then use DISH WASHER SOAP that cuts grease to remove it, and even then I have to dish soap my hair 3 times before it "kinda comes out"

SO I needed a solution.. I started looking and looking, and finally stumbled on the greatest pomade I have ever had, and I swear by it.

This pomade is as strong as Murrays, but is WATER SOLUBLE and washes out like a normal gel. Yet holds my hair the toughest. It has a pleasant vanilla scent that girls compliment.

    It is: LAYRITE

I'll be using this for life

So I picked some of the Garnier Fructis stuff in the original post...is it best to use when hair is slightly damp or completely dried?

Cause I put it in after I blow dried my hair and it seemed like it went dry and unstylable quite quickly.

Just ordered this off of thegreaseshop.com

Reps in order if it works. I have the same type of hair as you and try to put it up in the front but the stuff I have doesn't cut it. Reps if it does well for me.

I noticed if my hair is too wet, neither Murrays nor Layrite give as good of a hold. I'm assuming the water messes with the initial bonding. So I make sure the hair is towel dried enough to where the hair is faintly wet, and softer. Then you'll notice how strong it is.

Layrite does have a shine to it as well, just so you know
Yeah, I do that now with the Pomade that I have...its stuff I get from CVS (schwartzkoph got2b stuff...idk its like 6 bucks)

I always wash twice making sure I get in there really well with the 2nd wash and I put it in after I towel dry it until its barely wet. Holds okay but just looks like a poof by the end of the day. Not a horrible look but I wish it would look just better...
