    It's always a good idea to be safe, but I wouldn't completely count out a supplement based on a Wikipedia article. If there are certain medications that concern you, I would look into interactions between those specific medications and garlic.

    I have a hard to reading and understanding these abstracts. Does this one below mean there is no muscle building or any type of positive benefits for enhancing performance?

    The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of glycine propionyl-L-carnitine (GPLC) supplementation and endurance training for 8 wk on aerobic- and anaerobic-exercise performance in healthy men and women (age 18-44 yr). Participants were randomly assigned to 1 of 3 groups: placebo (n=9), 1 g/d GPLC (n=11), or 3 g/d GPLC (n=12), in a double-blind fashion. Muscle carnitine (vastus lateralis), VO(2peak), exercise time to fatigue, anaerobic threshold, anaerobic power, and total work were measured at baseline and after an 8-wk aerobic-training program. There were no statistical differences (p> .05) between or within the 3 groups for any performance-related variable or muscle carnitine concentrations after 8 wk of supplementation and training.     glycine propionyl-L-carnitine = GPLC

    "Carnitine is a quaternary ammonium compound biosynthesized from the amino acids lysine and methionine.[1] In living cells, it is required for the transport of fatty acids from the cytosol into the mitochondria during the breakdown of lipids (or fats) for the generation of metabolic energy."

    So as i read this i believe that they where trying to increase work out performance, (and it says it in the quote) L-carnitine didn't help the subjects work out any harder thus aiding in muscle growth or fat loss...

    i dont mean to flood the this thread. But i wonder the diet of the subjects, we all know that the diet plays a big role in strenth gains. If the subjects weren't eating enough lean meats, carbs and fats then i believe they wouldn't see gains from the glycine propionyl-L-carnitine anyways.

    You have to be careful about buying SAMe that does not come in individual foil packs, SAMe is an extremely unstable compound.

    SAMe is also not supposed to be refrigerated

    It is important to purchase enteric-coated tablets packaged in foil or foil blister packs. SAMe should be stored in a cool, dry place, but not refrigerated. Tablets should be kept in the blister pack until the time of ingestion.
    I find it weird that NOW markets their SAMe the way they do, when almost everywhere else that I read, besides the NOW bottle, recommends individual foil packaging and no refrigeration.

    The study results would indicate that GPLC has little effect on aerobic exercise and they could not find an increase in intramuscular stores of carnitine which I guess they would expect with GPLC usage. I can see a few flaws but without the entire study I can only guess at the protocols employed. But it appears that the subjects only conducted aerobic training and after 8 weeks had no increase over placebo and also no effect on anaerobic training. But if you run on a treadmill for 8 weeks I doubt you'd see much of an increase in your bench press. Of course, without the specifics, we don't know how they measured anaerobic performance.
    Yes, there is indeed a deeper component to it all.

    Check out AOR's and Bioforte's resveratrol. I'm not currently taking resveratrol but it seems like the majority of people I see taking it have recommended these 2.

    What did you ask them? If you ask them if they are cGMP compliant, they can say "yes" even if they aren't certified. To be cGMP compliant all you have to do is follow the rules of the statute, certification is another thing.

    On their website it says they basically rely on HPLC and COA from their supplier, I didn't see any mention of cGMP.
