COMMENTS:
Squats were heavy, but manageable. The bar speed for press was unbelievably fast, I even think I completed six reps for my last set. Power clean form was decent for the load. Power cleans were also a 3x5 PR, a long time since I've had one of those.

Couldn't update this journal last night, so I'm doing it now. Squats were heavy, but that was expected. The bar speed for deadlift was surprisingly fast.SFW

COMMENTS:
I went into this workout thinking squats would be very heavy, but they weren't that bad. Press was very heavy, I came close to missing the last rep of the last set. The hardest part about press in general is getting the bar up for the first rep, IMO. I set another PR with power cleans.SFW

Thanks, Eric.
Thanks, PokLim. Have a nice weekend yourself.
Thanks, Johnny. I honestly have no idea what I do with breathing, I just do whatever feels comfortable I guess. Ask in the SS thread if you want the real answer, as I do not know.
Thanks, Matt. I'm definitely starting to make some serious progress with power cleans.
I've been reading here and there.SFW

Great PC PR! And, yeah, starting the press from a dead stop is the hardest part. No stretch reflex. This is why if I ever need to take a breath during the press, I take it at the top instead of the bottom, so I can use that stretch reflex for every rep.

Rippetoe suggests using air in your lungs to provide added pressure to your core, which helps it support the weight for squat, deadlift, press, bench... I take a nice big breath, tighten my trunk muscles, squat/deadlift/press, and then in between reps I'll take another breath, or multiple as necessary, tighten, and go. I'd highly recommend the book. I've found it to be a great resource.
Apologies to RipCJ and Johnny if I'm out of line for posting this response here.PL Journal:
