Been out for a few months with a hand injury. My instructor just told me he wants me to compete in a grappling comp and i'll have just a few weeks to train for it. Stupid to do the competition or not?

I typically come back in better shape after an injury break. by that I mean its like my brain had a chance to reset, and I can think a whole lot more clearly. Even if I lost strength because I couldnt lift either, I still felt physically and mentally better. Gives you a chance to recover inside and out.

I always feel fresh as fuk rolling after I take a week or two break. I don't know about a few months though. Seems like a long time.

Is it stupid? That's up to you. Do you feel good in the gym?

How is cardio? Will weight be a problem?

Yeah, I'm a white belt. I'm going to do it. Was rolling today and it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. But was getting destroyed by the guillotine. Thanks for the feedback brahs

Anyway, Liera is such a fukn beast. His closed guard has really evolved to the point that people would rather play his open guard but he still finds ways to get you in his closed guard.

i took 3 days off from being sick, hitting up open mats in 2 hours then in a 10 k run tomorrow!

then back to normal training schedule next week, can't wait

if you're in opponenet's guard, pop your butt up into the air. you should look like this /| <- your legs are the straight line and your torso is the /. The angle might/probably won't be that extreme. Dig your head forward and into the mat.

I now see how hard it is to explain technique with words..

That's all good to relieve the pressure, but then you're beyond open for a sweep into a mounted position with the gullotine possibly still on and even more dangerous...

Half is for pussies. Get all the way to side then choke him out with the toughest von flue choke you can muster so he never tries that pussy chit on you again.

Purple belt advice is always better than white belt advice! I got gullotined in a tournament 2 months ago and that's what I learned from it. I didn't even think I was setting myself up for something else

Rodolfo Vieira straight up beasting and submitting almost everyone he comes into contact with.


And WTF at Keenan Cornelius. Hard to believe he was only a purple belt 2 years ago but he's giving veteran black belts all they can handle and more. His match with Buchecha was amazing. Keenan's progress is scary fast.





Rodolfo looks like he's on a mission to avenge his loss against Buchecha. Seeing as both of them have obviously gotten better, I'm judging that their matchup in a few minutes will be a lot more exciting than last year's. (As if it weren't exciting enough)

It was intense right from the first minute. Buchecha almost got Keenan's back and almost had him with an armlock but Keenan vigorously fought back and Buchecha looked really tired after he won against Keenan.

Rolled three rounds with my coach, and got to go over a lot of stuff. Only thing was, I was fasting and just dead! Was amazing feeling though.

Basically it's just free mat time where there's no formal instruction. You can spar with people or drill or just shoot the ****. I usually drill when I go.

Trying to get as much training in as I can. Moving in June and may have to leave my team and affiliation (no Nova Uniao within fifty miles). Not sure what I am going to do. There a are a few gyms around, but whoever I go to is going to "cook" me for at least two years (not promote). I have a wife and family now, and BJJ has to be convenient or else I can't train. I am really kind of torn up over it.
