Go to your local shop and have them square you away with a rebuild kit. It'll save you coin, and will give you a new washer, nut, core, and cap. Unless of course, you've got a GMC with the stupid rubber stem, or a Ford with the band sensor.

Apparently it's all one piece, stem and all gone.

Does not compute. Even the GM rubber valve type has a separate sensor body that screws into the stem. Ford's band sensor is the only one-piece apparatus that I know of. Most look like this:




I don't understand how that could corrode, since they're stainless steel and plastic.

Yeah mine looked like that, but where the cap screws on was just flat broken off and the internals were shot out. I think the rebuild kit requires the threads to be intact, no?

It does. I've never seen that. Although, you live on the coast, so I suppose that would explain a lot.

Yeah it was on the rear so probly from being dunked in saltwater at the boat ramp. I always rinse the truck off but tough to get into those little spaces like that with a rinse. The other side is fine though, no corrosion so I dunno.

essentials has stopped infections on the kids' computer, several times in fact, however I had a buddy get a nasty spyware bug while running it. At the same time I've cleaned that same bug off his computers 3 times now (2 diff computers) so I think he's running something specific that's doing it.

avast is great with viruses but doesn't have basic adware type protection.
