I didn't watch the NHL for the rest of the gayoffs after they cancelled games after rapist Blake got what he deserved. Back now.
Don's weenie should be burned alive and hung in the center of town for allowing Nate Schmidt to just get traded from Vegas within their own division to Vancouver for a 3rd round pick
Don's weenie should be burned alive and hung in the center of town for allowing Toffoli to go to kuntreal for 4 mil 4years with zero NMC
Don's weenie should be burned alive and hung in the center of town for allowing Taylor Hall to sign in BUFFALO for 8mil 1 year
Glad he let Krug go though, that is actual addition by subtraction SRS. However in true Don's weenie fashion, rather than trading his rights, he just let him walk for literally nothing. And no excuse for the above. Craig Smith is a fine 3rd liner, nothing more. Middling, treading water, waste of time. Fire Don's Weenie immediately.Last edited by meep316; 10-12-2020 at 06:24 PM.

I feel like a lot of teams would've taken Schmidt for a 3rd... he had a modified NTC though, and Knights had to dump cap ASAP after signing Pietrangelo. So maybe that handcuffed other interested teams. Benning was all-in on OEL or Barrie so I'm pretty sure his ass fell into a pot of gold LOL

Arizona's beat writer reported the Canucks' offer for OEL was a 1st, 2nd, Virtanen and Sutter... big ****ing yikes. Deal didn't work out because Arizona wanted Demko/Hoglander/Podkolzin instead of picks. Dodged a ****in nuclear missile here, cap room comes at a huge premium right now.
on the bright side the Bruins have 10M in cap space with only DeBrusk and Grzelcyk to sign. Another team will have to shed a quality player for cheap to stay under the cap or save cash.Go Canucks Go!

why would he step down when he's the perfect useful idiot for the party? he accomplished what they wanted from him, a friendly enough "electable" white guy but harris pulls the strings from behind him
any trojan horse drama makes people question the party
god i hope someday this country figures out how to put forth good candidates again

Yea, I feel like this has been a common answer. Would you say that it's mainly Crosby's passing that puts him over the edge? Feels like Centers naturally impact the game more than wings.
Also side question, do you guys think that secondary assist should be worth equal as a primary assist or a goals scored? I always thought it was kind of weird, not that it changes much of the topic. I think Crosby dominates in primary assists.
I am a noob when it comes to hockey, I am more of an expert at NFL/NBA although I don't care for NBA anymore.

personally i think secondary assists are a little over-awarded sometimes but there are definitely plays where it would feel like someone's being shorted if they don't get a full secondary
i just don't care for the ones where like, a defenseman gets a secondary for making a D to D pass or something.. those feel cheap

He has superior passing but yes centers usually have the ability to affect the game more than a wing. Crosby has become great in his own zone, on faceoffs, and is elite at so many things we as fans don't see or comprehend ie situational awareness, puck possession, etc
For the most part secondary assists are not as significant but it would be even more silly to count them as a partial point when counting stats.

ROBIN LEHNER AND EVANDER KANE BOTH CALL OUT YOUTUBER BOXER JAKE PAUL FOR A FIGHT
**** this would be sick. Lehner is a mad man. But honestly jakes punches were pretty brutal, but his opponent was trash, no defense at all.NHL Team - Ottawa Senators

Seems like the owners let up on trying to cap escrow, and both players and owners are finally moving ahead with the next season.

Quick update on a Monday night:
The NHL and NHLPA will continue to negotiate protocols for the 2020-21 season, but agreed that the economic framework of the newly negotiated CBA won’t be changed.
Last month, the NHL asked the players to consider increasing deferred payments and caps on escrow at certain points in the agreement. The players reacted negatively, and made it clear they would not consider touching escrow.
According to multiple sources, they were willing to defer additional monies — in exchange for what they considered a meaningful concession. One of the suggestions, for example, was slightly raising the salary cap to put more money in the system. (Yes, that could increase how much players will eventually owe to balance the 50/50 split, but with escrow caps, it is not a great concern to the current group.)
No deal could be reached, and both sides decided to move on.
What’s next? Both sides continue to grind away at the protocols for 2020-21. Training camps, opt-outs, testing, the schedule, the playoffs, re-alignment, you name it.
Targets include a Jan. 13 start to the season, with non-playoff teams reporting Dec. 28 and others on Jan. 1. No exhibition games appear likely. I believe there is a short-term “hub plan” being worked on just in case, but it is not the preference. The biggest headache might be training camp plans in places like Montreal, San Jose (Arizona?) and Winnipeg, which have strict current restrictions due to COVID-19.
It sounds like there’s a desire to get something done by the end of the week, to be voted on but the Board of Governors and the players. We’ll see where this goes, but the financial discussions are over.Go Canucks Go!

The NHL has a quite a few franchises that are perennial money-losers, so owners have to extract as much revenue from players as possible to keep the whole operation afloat - for instance, implementing a hard salary cap and using escrow to withhold player salaries if they don't hit the 50% from their split (on the other hand the MLB has no cap and player salaries are not tied to revenue). The NHLPA tries to cut the best deal for itself, of course, and there's constant friction to find that sweet spot where owners can keep the league sustainable while players get a deal they're happy with.
