If Americans understand Imperial measurements in relation to other Imperial measurements it is irrelevant. Europeans are simply looking for some smug thing to passive-aggressively jab at Americans about.

Come on. I'm American too but even I can admit that the metric system is superior to the imperial. It makes far more sense and makes calculations in science much simpler.

Europeans are better than us in some things and us Americans are better than them in some other things. No one's the best at everything.

When driving a stick shift I would make much have my dominant hand on the gears I am going to be moving frequently. That's only for stick shift though and furthermore humans naturally gravitate towards their dominant side even in things like walking or going through doors in most cases.

We use the SI system for science, engineering and medicine. The imperial system is only used in informal situations. For anything important we use SI like everyone else.

This. You hear all the time about project management errors dude to incorrect conversions, using the wrong system, etc. Sometimes people just buy the wrong parts since it's almost a toss up whether parts are in inches or meters. It seems like most "engineering" parts (screws, pipes, etc.) are sold in inches, pressure in pounds per square inch (LOL), etc.
