I just did 6-8 weeks building up to 1 rep max. First video is a week ago, the second is this last Saturday.
4/6/13 305x1 Sumo Dead
4/13/13 315x0 Sumo Dead
Form comments are good.
I still don't set up very close to the bar, and I start with a roundish back, but pushing abs out against the belt. This seems to be my default form when it gets heavy. I'll spend the next few weeks working on form/set up. I'd like to be able to get closer to the bar, pull back (versus up) and keep my chest up better. I don't know that I'll even be able to get my hips lower, just too painful and I can't stay tight enough.
I was pretty pissed about missing the 315, but I pulled it twice and both times failed to lockout. I'm still pretty happy with my gains. I was pulling ~250 a month ago, and just made some huge jumps recently.http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=172554141

Hey!! Not sure that I'll post everything, but definetly when I need some form help and motivation. That was my bf. this was the second attempt at 315, and it doesn't look like I stood there very long, but it sure felt like an eternity. I wasn't going anywhere with that bar, just standing and trying. He doesn't like it when my back looks like that....
I dropped the weight after that and did a million (or felt like it) singles working on my form. I need to get better at using glutes, pushing down and pulling back. It was a lot of fun to have all the weight on the bar, even if I didn't lock out. I felt like superwoman!
Edited to say: Not my bf anymore!! Fiance!Last edited by tina722; 04-15-2013 at 06:54 AM.

March 31st he asked.
lol. you guyz are funny. (but thanks, I'm grinning)
I've been stuck around 250 for a year, I think. No progress what so ever. So this PR is slow to come. I focused a lot on squats between November and February, and I think that helped get me over the hump. Some other things that have sort of fell in to place:
- the video that 80s posted helped my set up a little bit, although I still to work on it
- nutrition: not drinking as much (most of the time... ) and increased protein intake (had been <90g/day in feb/march )
- decreased intensity in squats: one lower body day is now all high rep (8-10) and the other is low rep, and only 2-3 heavy sets (vs. 5-6 I used to do)
- lots of rest. Probly 8min between each set.
Thanks! I'm still so excited and happy!
R- the program looks intense! I just started reading about it. And ugh, on your injury. Hopefully it won't interfere with your squats too much.
Hey! Thanks for stopping by. I haven't been logging lately, so you haven't missed anything, just had to share these PRs. Please shout out with form comments when you see something.http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=172554141

Tina we missed you...the program is only one day a week so it's definitely doable!
Do you mix your grip for deads? or is it always use the same hand for over and under? I think that contributed to my ac strain...the fact that my left hand is always under.
And congrats on the engagement and joining the club!Who's afraid of 138?

I'm bad about switching hands. My heaviest pulls are always right under and I'm sure that causes some of my shoulder/bicep issues. I do the lighter ones with left under, but for me, it's not quite as strong. Maybe if I worked them more evenly.
RErogram. some of the reports were saying it might be hard to do the program at the same time as squatting. What do you think? Keep heavy squats and deadlift the same day. I do like the looks of it, even though the 8+ reps scare me!!
good point. thanks, I'll be playing around with form and speed for a few weeks, then maybe will attempt the program.
Smart. I need to follow your example.
Thanks!!!
You're coming to Houston!! Cool! The owner does oly lifting and there are a few other regulars that do it. You could email him to make sure somebody will be around when you want to show up. Let me know when you go, I'd love to go too!
There might be a few other gyms too, but I'm not sure which ones.
Hi Christina! Thanks.

With the program you don't want to squat on same day maybe later in week for 3-5 sets at 85%ish then in the fourth week of the program cycle when no deads you can squat heavier.
My shoulder is good to go I'm startin next week.
I tried pulling switching hands today but yea it didn't feel as strong so only switched it for warm up sets.Who's afraid of 138?

Ref your DLs - you don't have issues getting it off the floor, yes it cold be prettier but they aren't giving points for style in a meet form was fine for a 1RM.
I would suggest sticking 320+ on the bar and doing heavy pulls off the blocks/rack pulls for your lockout.
I can pull 135kg from the floor but rack pull and lock out at 150kg. Also Yates rows too. You have more than 315 if you can sort out your lock out
Congrats on the engagement!!

Somehow, I don't believe that you'll be squatting once/week only....
And good!! It seems a little rest/lots of rehab/ice/advil really help those kind of issues
Good reminder, thanks. Rack pulls will be added. Need to go look up Yates rows, I seem to remember seeing that you do them, but don't know what they are.
I actually went to look to see what program you were doing, as I know you like it quite a bit. I need a few weeks off heavy deads, and I need to pull my squat back together. Every other squat session is a wreck, and it's driving me crazy. I'm looking into it a bit more.http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=172554141

As mentioned above, deads really did me in. I'm fried. And need some rest time from them.
I am taking a planned deload this week. So, full body Monday/Thursday/Saturday.
Monday
Back Squats: 10@135, 155, 180
Incline DB press: 10@ 27, 32, 37
Headstand leg raises
But apparently this was too much, I took several naps and was starving all day. Today is better, but still trying to get plenty of food in and even am fitting in a few naps. I had a planned yoga class for tonight, but we will see if I make it.
*****
I'd been dieting (3weeks only) until this week. I lost a few pounds, and am indecisive as whether to continue or not. I love the idea of introducing a deadlifting program and I really need to get my squats back in order. <-all this sounds much more difficult on calorie deficit.
I've put benching on the back burner (and off) for the meantime, I keep reinjuring my shoulder. My upper days consists of rows/DB incline press/pullups/dips and tricep isolation stuff. I may reintroduce bench later this summer/next fall, but will keep it to 3 week cycles so I don't push too hard.http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=172554141

No trust me...I need a break from squats they startin to feel weaker...plus your pulling has inspired me to catch up to you
Deadlift program on a deficit sounds risky. How do you like bak squatting in heels as opposed to chucks btw? i'm thinking of giving it another shot.Who's afraid of 138?
