We only have half a cage that we built ourselves and it's honestly doing a great job even for sparring.

We have half a cage and it is fine for training in. You get the same feel as if you were in a full one really.

I am really excited about it. We're having a little building work done, so everything should be up and ready in September.

Best thing is my coach said I can train my personal clients out of there as well.

Also what's your thoughts on cross training? I mean training at different clubs for different things.

I mean don't get me wrong my club is the best but I really wanted help with my stand up.

I decided to get some outside help from a local boxing club. First private session was today and the dude nearly killed lol. It was excellent, I know I am going to learn a lot but I was told you shouldn't really train at different clubs. This is boxing though not MMA or BJJ.

Crazy weekend. I am 99% "moved in" with my GF. Plus, my a-hole coach is now planning on opening up his own gym in the city in direct competition with the one I work at. Really sheisty stuff. Bums me out.

If your coach is cool with it, then it doesn't really matter. If not, then it does.

However.. we will probably not do another WKA event again. It was poorly run ("poorly" is a gross understatement) and Crenshaw is a prick.

I was just stoked because I really need to focus on my striking. After watching the local fights this weekend it showed me I really need to improve in that area, especially if I would like to retain my stunning good looks.

I was just stoked because I really need to focus on my striking. After watching the local fights this weekend it showed me I really need to improve in that area, especially if I would like to retain my stunning good looks.

How far are you from the gym now?

I live about 20 minutes from the gym now, instead of 5 blocks. But I am also about 10-15 minutes closer to the NJ gym so it evens out, kind of. Are you going to do the Muay Thai tournament?

Why is he being a ****?

They're crazy and self-centered. The whole issue was that the coach wanted equity in the academy.. but he didn't want to assume any of the risk. So now he will have alllllll the risk he wants and the irony is that the same procedures and policies we have in place to keep the gym up and running successfully will have to be adopted by him, or the business will likely fail.

A gym based upon the business plan of "having good fighters" will never succeed.. especially not when they are only MT guys, too. Nobody knows what "It's Showtime" or the "S-1 Cup" are. But they know what the UFC is. Really BAD business move on their end, which just makes the situation more senseless.

I'm sure they'll do ok (in the sense that they will support themselves with it) but it's just overall really sheisty. The part that bothers me the most is that they are spinning it and trying to make it seem like they HAD to do it, and they we (my gym--specificially my boss and myself) are like the evil empire and they are the righteous rebels who are standing up for what's good in the world.

The coach would talk an insane amount of smack about people who left our gym to work at other gyms or establish their own. I have no idea how he is going to remove his foot from his mouth.
