From this atheists stand point religious = spiritual. It's semantics by and large. I am sure that there is a deep philosophical difference, but from were I sit, a spiritual Christian isn't much different than a religious Christian.
Actually, I'm not an atheist, I'm an ignostic empiricist.... but I'm sure to a Christian, I would come off as atheist, and for ease of explanation and in all practical reality, I am an atheist.

So what is the joke then? I don't get it.
First of all giving honor to g-d, and and our lord and savior Barack Obama.....Barack Obama you all stand up you gotta...
Where is the humor? Should I be laughing?
There are only two subjects Christianity and Barack Obama. Is Jamie Foxx making fun of Christianity, Barack Obama, or both?

Yeah, CBB called it...and participated gleefully.
(You did, CBB, admit it, bud!)
At any rate, my post to Thomas H. stands. All this JC stuff--if you believe in it, fine. If you don't, fine. I don't go around proclaiming Yahweh as the spirit and savior {because we all know HE is } because it isn't my style. 'Nuff said.
As for the comment by Foxx, it was meant as a joke, it should have been taken as a joke, and to me, it WAS a friggin' joke. Dumb, yes, even tasteless perhaps, but still a joke and everyone knew it. Why some people get so butthurt is beyond me. Hell, there are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more tasteless Jewish and Muslim jokes by the joikes out there but one gag by Foxx which was gagarific turns cyberspace into a cyber sh!tstorm.
Now apologize to ACrawlingChaos. He's still butthurt.

I find it tragic that the American Republic is fast adopting the attributes of its WWII enemy, Nazi Germany, in deifying its leaders. What kind of example is this setting others like our allies in Europe, for instance, which many concerned people, including Christians, believe events there have the potential to lead to the rise of another messianic-type figure not unlike the psycopathic god Hitler?
I totally agree. It reminds me of the account of Herod's death after he failed to sternly correct the people for their idol worship of him after he gave a rousing speech (Acts 12:21-23).

One joke from a comedian means Obama is Hitler? I guess it was only a matter of time before someone made the comparison.

Comparisons to Hitler always smack of ideological histrionics but that doesn't mean that are invalid simply because they are invoked. In general, it's always a worthwhile thing to consider when any of us get all excited about a political "leader" as if he were the second coming of Christ. The comparison can be just as much, if not more, of an indictment of the people as it is the person seeking office. All we need to remember is power corrupts and it corrupts everyone to some extent, and power that isn't had can't be abused. The hysteria over Obama, a junior senator and former law professor with no other significant accomplishments or than a slick tongue and a willingness to promise whatever to whomever was listening, was troublesome, at least to me. It became even more troublesome as the Republicans were being labeled as obstructionists and the same groups that championed limitations of executive power a mere few years prior were all but ready to bestow the title of emperor on the guy. To be fair, the Republicans acted more or less the same during their reign.

Interesting comments to say the least as I have read, none of which have changed "my opinion", because in the end it is after all my opinion, some agree some disagree, so be it, it certainly wasn`t meant to be offensive, my statements, which Oddly enough, some are more offended by my comments than Jamie Foxx, it is what i is I guess. I still & agree more so & am more comfortable with Linus from Charlie Brown, what the True Real meaning of Christmas is than some preachers and secular thoughts, I am firm also in that as in John 11:25&26 "I am the Resurrection and the Life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they Die & whoever lives by Believing in Me, will never Die, Do you believe this ?"------and My belief is YES
I am certainly not a religious nut, hiding in the bushes crazy or standing on some street corner screaming or holding some sign, I will always share what I believe, gently, sometimes not so gently, I make grievous errors in my life, I fail miserably, I get angry, over react, say things that are blatantly against my beliefs, anger quickly, think about things that I know are wrong, act or think differently alone at times than in Public, defend my opinions staunchly, embrace hypocritical behavior and through it all my hope is not in some made up manufactured non sense in the go along to get along society, where some would believe or say it doesn`t matter what you believe as long as it is sincere, where is the Hope in that or it`s like when people say don`t worry it will get better when your Daughter Dies suddenly, or a Dr looks at you and tells you your Wife isn`t going to make it through the day, Twice, or your one Son is lost in a dark world, or you lose your House, and have no Money, & your holding on by a thread mentally and wonder how to keep going and you just do. And now I know I am old enough to know that I am no different than anyone else, and I have failed numerous times regardless of advice, common sense,& in spite of being led down the right path to still make making horrible choices, the severity is less as I get more wisdom, but I am Like everyone else, and I lean and try and accept and love the Lord & Look for answers from him & Listen with all my Heart from his spirit which I believe lives not only in me but everyone & I truly listen to those who walk the walk for answers I do not have, constantly on the watch for more.
I will obviously not ever stop sharing my opinions about anything I feel, In many ways & in many area`s I may be wrong and then be corrected, which I may or may not welcome with open arms, I am not looking for sympathy or even a pat on the back, I am a big boy and can take whatever it is I have coming to me good bad or indifferent and know 100% I will get through it, my Belief and opinion on Jesus still stands
And I still think Jamie Foxx is a fraud and a dupe not too mention dangerous fool, lost but nevertheless a total ass for saying that obama is lord & saviorLast edited by thomashenry; 11-28-2012 at 06:24 PM.

To clarify I never equated Obama with Hitler. I simply made an observation, in response to the portrait of him as Christ crucified, that some Americans seem to be idolizing him and making him out to be a deity not unlike the Germans did Hitler in WWII. Such a trend, along with other ominous parallels in recent decades, IMO doesn't bode well for a people and makes me feel uneasy about the direction America is taking and/or the example she's setting for the rest of the world that's all.

Offended or not. Joking or not. In good taste or not. Jamie Foxx was just saying what many do indeed believe. If they were asked straight up on the matter, they would certainly deny it. When it plays out in every day, real life; it is most certainly, unfortunately, undeniably true! It is not the person who occupies the White House. Black, white, red, green, blue, yellow and orange polka-dotted. Whatever color one could possibly imagine. It is the mindset, the values, the expectations. Someone should pay! Not me, certainly not. But someone!
Barrak Hussein Obama is a blip on the radar screen. This has been going on for years. Brought about by politicians of every stripe, color, and creed who prefer to get elected rather than solve long term, pressing, and eventually devastating and debilitating problems. We have what we deserve!paolo59

Its documented that he died and rose again.
But it doesnt say he died again.
And as far as speaking english you or I cannot prove that he did or didnt.
But I'm pretty sure he does.
Statement was more or less my understanding that I will never argue you or anyone else into believing what I choose to believe.
