899 Incoming

Based on the 1199′s “frameless” setup, this bike will be equipped with a smaller motor, double-sided swingarm and a lower price tag.

The 899 will be the latest in a proud history of mid-capacity Ducatis that ape the design, styling and mechanical configuration of their larger, Superbike brothers. The 748 looked like a 916, the 848 looked like a 1098 and now the 899 adopts most of what makes the 1199 so special. With no visible perimeter frame, it appears to use the same stressed motor with the airbox doubling as a front subframe and the rear subframe bolted to the rear cylinder of the v-twin.

In addition to the smaller capacity engine, the 899 is equipped with a cheaper, double-sided swingarm, different wheels and lower-spec front suspension and radial brake calipers. Expect the all-new engine to make something in excess of the current 848 Evo’s 140bhp figure.

The guy that had owned my 08 1000RR originally found me through my CL ad. I had an ad up for the wheels because i want repsol wheels and he emailed me asking if its the bike he had with the last 6 of the VIN.

All black 08's were a bit rare and he managed to find the new owner (me) had it registered in a suburb where my ad was listed.

Since the VR principle was patented by Horex Motorcycles for the Horex VR6. It is the first and only motorcycle engine in the world with this particularly space-saving cylinder arrangement.

Gotcha. Yea, I just did a quick google search and it was focused on that concept, apparently. Serves it well anyways b/c the concept made 200 hp with belt-driven SC and the NA version makes 161. I know 39 horses is a lot, but not at the expense and complication of a SC.

Lol it has a VR6 in it??? Its a German CO? I wonder if its owned by VW.

THe VR6 is an engine configuration designed by VW for front wheel drive cars. It's like a cross of the V design and Inline leaning more towards inline. They designed it to drop into 4 bangers.

You can turbo the VR6 and pull on porches, its on a Moto. Lol!

Edit: just looked it up. Tech partner on that moto project: VW

Seat is 10/10 would never ride without again. It's a little wider and firmer (no homo) but takes all the pressure off all the right spots. Also stops your nuts from smashing into the tank. All the techs at the stealership were joking saying they were gonna steal it lol

As far as I know they make tech, sport, and track. You can try the tech seat I think its the most "gel like" or padded... also least expensive. Call up Revzilla and see what they recommend

$120 for the inspection, another $120 if they need to be shimmed. Labor is equal parts so about $400. Theyre usually honest with me but theyll probably tell me they need to be shimmed regardless lol

I need to see how hard it is to get to the valves on my bike.
Just would not want to pull cams to shim. I believe you still have to do that with these types of engines right?
