You may need better socks, I have never had a blister from Mole skin, the stuff worked wonders for me in the academy.
I'm impressed with your mile time, I haven't had a mile time like that since competing in High School cross country so many years ago. Then again I was around 150lbs then not 200+ like I am now.LAKERS,49ERS,ANGELS

Good luck training for your marathon, I could never run more than 10 miles consecutively in my best shape.
I wish I could run that fast of a mile time now, I probably could make a 7 min mile but that would be it for me.
My coach back in the day said LSD(long, slow, distance) helps your fast twitch muscles, I guess if you run for multiple hours a 5-6 min sprint is nothing.LAKERS,49ERS,ANGELS

I might have to try out the Frees, I'm trying out a running program instead of a lifting program in the hopes that not actually having to go anywhere except out my front door will finally help me start to get in shape. We'll see how that goes though.
I didn't read the chapters, but in the Four Hour Body the author talks about how sprinting is actually better than running longer distances. I don't think he was talking about marathons though. Have to see if I can find it to clarify.
