Unless you are working grip and forearms and DOH is excellent for that, if you are trying to engagement that technique (especially in Quick lifts) DOH is horrible even with light weight the bar will still roll a tad, once it rolls even a tad, kiss that technique goodbye, your lower back will always start to compensate for that roll because the friction changes.
That's Olympic lifters use straps with warmup weight.
I still use a mixed grip because I can still get that engagement even with a mixed grip and still get just as good as a back workout and grip. I would say my back/legs felt equal to my grip, I'd say my back/legs would've failed before my grip if I'd kept going to failure, but that's me, I've done grip training for longer than anything, there was several years I only trained DOH for higher reps, and thickbar.

I've really tried to work on hook grip, but I really do have incredibly short stubby fingers and a thick palm. So far it just seems impossible for me to get enough 'finger on the thumb' with the hook. And since I can do mixed grip and not in danger of dropping my max lift, I'll stick with that for everything but the higher rep sets.

GREAT day yesterday - final workout before next weekends' meet - and I did hit the double PR!
Bench was 315 which I've done in the gym several times, so it's technically a tied PR - but wanted to put it up to know that I can put it on the table for either lift #2 or #3 depending on how my first lift goes.
The BIG PR was hitting my 525 Deadlift - another jump from the 515 I did a couple weeks ago. It went up fast and I think I may have a little more in the tank - we'll see how the meet goes!

Change of pace, wasn't in a squat mood (well more like not in setting up squat stand mood) so did something I haven't done in a LONG time....power cleans and push press. Started off doing power cleans and strict press up to 160 lbs then did power cleans and push press for 180,190 and 201 lbs. Last time I did power cleans was way back in Summer 2015 when I reached my goal of 225 lbs
Gratuitous Flashback Friday to last time I did a power clean (yes I know form sucked...didn't care, just wanted to do 2 plates)
Back to present day.power clean and push press with 201 lbs
Rounded out workout with bent over barbell rows (another lift I hadnt done in a while but bar was on the floor) and ab wheel rollouts

Is there a way to multi-quote on the mobile site?
But anway, thanks everybody for the good word!
Thanks, wasn't sure what to expect with not having done them in a while and the smaller plates but didn't feel bad at all. May become part of my routine for a while.
Good job on OHP. It's a brutal exercise

Wasn't going to record anything today, just do some rep work but couldn't leave the squat at just last week's 298.5 lbs. So for the first time since the pandemic started, did a +300 lbs squat (303.5 lbs to be exact). Did some rep work with 280 lbs after and then did a 285 lbs beltless ATG slightly paused single. In between the 303.5 lbs belted and 285 unbelted singles, did some rep work with 280 lbs. Finished off workout with 3 sets of light Good Mornings and some neck work. Hoping to restart grip work soon but forearm pain not completely gone yet.
303.5 lbs Squat (no screenshot today, no doubt on depth today)

I saw it at a CrossFit class and thought,, hmmm I missed my leg workout so let me try this as I wasn't going to do squats and deads on the same day. It was interesting to say the least. It required a lot of balance and I think the mind to muscle link has to be a little more pronounce.

Front squat day. After doing triples and doubles with 238.5 and 258.5 lbs respectively, did two singles with 285 lbs. First is with a belt and very slight pause, way less than what I wanted. Second single is beltless and also took off knee sleeves. Knee sleeves are so old they keep sliding down and it was bugging me so just took it off. You can tell how much a belt helps by the respective difficulties, the belted rep didn't feel that bad, beltless was a bit of a grind. Finished off workout with floor leg curls using core sliders (if curious: https://www.t-nation.com/training/leg-curls-2-0/ . These are harder than you might initially think especially if you keep you hips extended and moreso if you do it single leg. When I was still in a gym, I did glute ham raises and these are comparable.) Anyway, the videos:
285 lbs front squat (with belt and very slight pause)
285 lbs front squat (no belt and no sleeve)

I think I am the only person who starts DB on the top, everyone else I see starts then at the bottom, but it is harder for me to start at the bottom, hence see how I struggled on the decline when I started them at the bottom.
Nice and smooth.
That bar looks really thin, do you find it harder with a thinner bar?
I finally got 315lbs for 1, its been a long battle for me, but I am there, so I will take it, baby steps!
Still for the gym life capture!!
