Gurley and Chubb combo!!!
I kept asking myself why they were putting in Marshall and Michel when Clemson couldn't stop the bulldozers in action. I love the packages with Gurley and Michel though. Plus who saw hicks destroy in the 4th?
I was a little upset with Bennett but I though his elbow was clearly down. Awesome to see all the freshmen in there being playmakers.
Oh the best for last, how about that junkyard defense? Bout time we simplified it and let them be the stars they can be! That dime package on third down is incredible! Clemson could not figure out the speed and blitz combos.Georgia Bulldogs/Orlando Magic/Miami Dolphins/UCF Knights/BoSox

Not to invade or disparage the funeral, but why isn't UGA a consistent nat'l championship contender? SEC, biggest school in biggest state of the biggest football region of the country. The state of GA churns out prospects left and right, to the point where UGA can hand-pick their guys..
The last championship or championship game was something like 1982. How? Something beyond Mark Richt sucks..

First of all, the kind people who say "Mark Richt sucks" tend not to understand the nuance of college football.
Anyway, back to your question. I think you can point to a few reasons why that hasn't happened for a long time. Number one, the Dawgs haven't had a "lucky" year. Whenever luck is involved, it seems like the Dawgs end up on the short end of the stick. A lot of the blame also falls on our hiring of DCs during the Mark Richt era. Van (Gina) Gorder was the only one to put up decent numbers. A large part of that was due to some transcendent defensive players who wanted to play for Richt, btw. Grantham caused massive issues among the coaching staff. A lot of people blame ex-UGA president Adams for being cheap (dick), especially in comparison to other SEC schools in the past 20 years. A lot of Georgia's wounds are self inflicted as well. We punish our players consistently, and harshly. The fact that Athens cops are known for arresting anyone for anything does not help things either. We also do not oversign like most SEC schools and because of that often fail to account for attrition.
The Pruitt hire (and Greg McGarrity as AD to an extent) has seen some consistent improvements and the recruiting is going very well right now (the 2015 and 2016 classes should both be top 5 in the nation). I actually think there is a lot to be positive about right now, despite the loss at USCe.

I swear there is so much negativity after a loss. Yes we had our chances and no we didn't capatilize. Our D stepped up with a turnover and we chose to pass and not run on 1st and goal with the best tail back in the nation. It sucks to lose and it's never easy especially to South Carolina or spurrier. Y'all got to stop being so negative, dawg fans are there win, lose or tie.

Yeah but it's the same thing every year. We lose the big game that separates us from the division. Not a surprise but everybody turns so quickly on richt, bobo and pruitt.
Hutson made that dumbass throw and our corners got slaughtered and our line backers played shallow and got balls right over their heads.. There was a lot of problems in a lot of areas. Not to mention our special teams got destroyed every time they returned it in the second half. Should we mention the line of scrimmage on defense? They owned us lol.
It's all in the past, should have a lot to learn and good break next week that we should be able to dial in while putting up 50-60 points.Georgia Bulldogs/Orlando Magic/Miami Dolphins/UCF Knights/BoSox

Quiet thread is quiet
Time for my analysis
QB- iffy, we did what we could against a poor Vandy defense and it was not good at all. Glad to see both backups get some (barely) play time. Still can't believe Brice overthrew down te middle of the field. I thought his cannon would have thrown a BB in there.
RB- Gurley = wow, Chubb = wow. Glad they stayed healthy.
WR- surprised it still looks like the Conley show. This has to do with Mason, the long TD still looked mediocre at best for me because he still didn't lead Conley when it looked like he had a step. It seems like Mason is preventing our receivers from getting loose. His arm strength is not catching anyone in stride (except Chubb last week). Too many short passed that a strong Florida/Auburn defense will destroy. Not even Gurley will be able to get us those big games in my opinion.
Defense- front 7 is lacking penetration big time. Is it just me or does it seem like Clemson was a fluke? We can't get to the passer barely ever. Running game is pretty strong but I think due to the fact we are already stopped at the line. That pick 6 was legit but he lobbed that ball up for grabs and Bowman had a great heads up play. We can't play man to man and zone is starting to kill us and teams are taking notes. Mizzou will probably pick us apart Saturday and I hope we have some plays that keep us in a close game. We just seem to be lacking confidence and aggressiveness.
Special Teams- Davis and McKenzie are grata but I think we will see more of Gurley against Mizzou and probably pooch kickoffs and redirected punts.
Next week- if we don't come out burning on all cylinders things could get ugly fast and stay ugly. We need to get momentum quick at Mizzou and never let off the throats. We need to start with a heavy dose of pass plays to spread their D and keep their D honest. Unfortunately Mason's arm will probably get us into some trouble.Georgia Bulldogs/Orlando Magic/Miami Dolphins/UCF Knights/BoSox

Analysis of Analysis:
QB
-Mason threw two fantastic deep balls in the first half (i.e. when Mitchell played). His biggest mistake, the interception, came on a miscommunication with a true freshman tight end who started for the first time. It is extremely obvious at this point that Mason is only comfortable with "his guys", namely Mitchell, Conley, JSW, and Bennett. Only one of those guys has been healthy this year and he is not a playmaker.
-Ramsey is not ready this year so you should stop calling for him while the Dawgs control their own destiny. Like Dean Legge said, if you put a freshman QB out there you are going to get to see sausage get made.
RB
-Such awesome. Need Sony back.
WR
-TBD until we see more Mitchell, and JSW for the first time.
Defense
-Inconsistent pressure and a secondary that lacks talent are a definite problem and combine to make things worse for our passing D. We really need the influx of talent in the upcoming recruiting class.
As for next week, I expect to see a lot of the same things we saw this week. If Mason does not turn the ball over, there is no way we lose.

Okay but in the short of things it was obvious that Mitchell and JSW were there to get playing time and not be immediate impact players. People want Ramsey but as we all see he isn't ready nor will he be at the start of next year. Mason by all means is the best solution to a starter but I just can't tell why they are so oblivious to putting Ramsey in. He needs his playing time and if worst case scenario will be the next guy up. I think we are in great shape for Mizz but this is not the week for a slow start.
