Congrats on the week of sobriety! I know it is very challenging not to beat yourself up over lapses and relapses, but it happens to many people, many times. I think that recognizing that fact as well as the fact that you don't fail your sobriety until you give up trying. We might be knocked down 100 times, but we get back up stronger and better than before. This mindset helps me personally because it takes a lot of pressure off of me in terms of thinking I lose everything from a slip up. And, it also has helped me get back on the wagon faster and easier because I didn't spend that time and energy beating myself up.
You should definitely start getting back into the gym! I think that it is incredibly important to replace that time with drinking/using with hobbies and activities that are fulfilling and healthy! I believe the gym is especially helpful because consistent, regular exercise greatly improves physical and mental health. Keep us updated in this thread and please reach out if you need support!
Congrats on the year and a half-ish of sobriety! I don't doubt that you look and probably also feel 10 years younger. What has helped you stay strong in your recovery? Do you have any suggestions that might help others?Miscer in recovery: clean date 03/30/22

Thank you, and thanks to the above commentor.
Not a drop of alcohol thats how it needs to be in my case. I see close friends fall off the wagon after one glass of wine and it snowballs into oblivion. Find positive activities. Theres more to life than drugs and alcohol.
I will also say to pay attention to your daily intake (water & sodium) especially in hot climates and avoid NSAIDS these things are horrible for your kidneys.

Honestly, I have been maintaining my weight pretty consistently throughout my sobriety. I think I initially lost some weight at the beginning, but then when I started lifting again, I started going back to the weight I was. But, I haven't really made any serious attempts to diet. I have recently been working on eating a bit less as well as not eating in the middle of the night. I know that people in recovery sometimes turn to craving food and sugar instead of drugs and alcohol.Miscer in recovery: clean date 03/30/22

Hell yeah, nice! You'll be coming up on six months in August then?
Congrats on the 7 months of sobriety! Over halfway to a year!
Great advice, definitely helpful to take it one day at a time. It can feel overwhelming to think about not drinking or using for the rest of your life. And yeah, I hope people are able to post in here when they need support!
Nice work on 3 weeks! I'm glad to hear that you have been making other positive changes in your life as well!Miscer in recovery: clean date 03/30/22
