yea I've done this before once I wrists started hurting, want to get away from having to rely on equipment for these though.
Nice, I found I could wedge it in there pretty good behind the delts at the base of the neck, and as long as I kept my head up it wouldn't put pressure on the throat. And yeah I just basically have my fingers wrapped around the bar.

Really, you want to find where your range of motion is greatest without causing a posterior pelvic tilt. Dr. McGill gave a really good diagnostic test for this on youtubes. Find out where your mobility is highest and try it.
Obviously, there are really strong guise who squat with a medium low bar and a medium wide stance.
Personally, i have worked my way from just outside shoulders and almost straight ahead to having my feet about twice shoulder width apart and feet at about 45 ° to be able to hit depth without causing lumbar flexion and i get much more ham and gloot involvement.
I used a really narrow clean grip, but then found out about "thumbs up grip" from when Clint Darden re-uploaded one of his older vidyas onto vimeo and i like that a lot more, easier on wrists and elbows.
I tried that and i found myself pulling up and forward on the straps too much and pulling the bar forward and it gets me out of position.

Hey guys, need a recommendation. What is the go-to youtube video or reference for sumo deadlift technique for a novice? I pull conv., gf pulls sumo. I try to help with technique and cues, but I really know nothing and am probably more harm that good. Until I can convince her to try conv. again where is a good source of info I can point to?

You should start PMing all of these stupid questions to kaleida or whatever her names is. You two nerds can go on for hours about the difference between 11 and 13 degrees foot angle in a close stance, flat soled, high bar squat
The rest of us are just going to STFU and lift since we realize that nickle/dime bullchit doesn't make enough of a difference to make it worth consideringTraining log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=165829701

So fuxing true. On spread. Everytime I see anything regarding this in any section it makes me want to blow my brains out. Just stand up and squat. If it feels weird, go wider or go narrower. You'll figure it out in about 10 minutes at the gym. Literally every single person in the world has different leverages and ****...figure it out on your own...at the gym.

After seeing a hard workout you may want to complain and want others to pity you for the work you have to do. Your mom will pity you. Your girl will pity you. I may pity you, but your competition will not pity you. They will step on you, walk over you and spit on you. Boris Sheiko

Lol.
Oh come on, that's such an obvious reply. Because I'm skipping gym sessions to post a paragraph on here? Okay buddy. Training takes 2 hours, I've got more than enough time in my day to ask these questions and still make gains.
You're being very ignorant to think squat stance width doesn't matter, though. You think you can squat whatever you squat with an entirely different width?202.5/135/245. Log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=165241801.
