DOOM ETERNAL first dlc drops in October

ah, Part 2 is already out. once I'm less busy I'll play through both DLCs

I just downloaded Part II this weekend. Right now I'm at the second Gore-Nest-type thing. (First Marauder encounter) I'm getting my ass whooped, it's really tough.

Only complaints:
- more demons requiring a certain weapon to kill
- more platforming variations.

Other than that, it's been solid.

Have an equal experience up until now. And yeah what is up with the first complaint, especially that armor demon that can only be beat with the plasma rifle.

Yeah I am really not a fan of the weapon specific demons. It really breaks up the speed and essence of Doom. With how fast you need to be moving it sucks having to switch to Plasma Rifle, or the drum fed shotgun to dispatch a certain demon while 10 others are trying to rape you.

Alright so I'm at the fight with the Dark Lord

I'm at the round where he starts spawning the demons like an Archville (what a pain in the ass it is)....and I'm really disappointed with this. The battle is just multiple rounds of the same crap. Why do you have to beat him 3 or 4 times? Not a lot of creativity in this final battle IMO. Still think the Spider Mastermind was one of the best boss fights, with the Icon of Sin coming in 2nd.

Yeah, I completely agree Juggernaut1333. I was hoping for a lot more complexity. I enjoyed the Icon of Sin battle so much more.

Finished TAG2 the day it released, not bad, I'd still say TAG1 was better. They definitely made it easier than the first DLC. The bosses are def a downgrade compared to 2016 but everything else is much better.

The only thing left to do is beat the Super Gore Nest master level on Nightmare, just hate how you can't save it. Rarely in the mood to complete it all in one go.

Hugo Martin explained this, apparently it takes a long time to make a boss fight, at least a year (Gladiator took 2 years to finish). That's the reason they couldn't do more with it.

SGN Master Level is insane. I play on a vanilla XBOX controller and I only got past the double Marauder encounter once. /Shrugs

Finished TAG2 last night

My thoughts, and disclaimer I'm a massive Doom homer.

This was easier than TAG1, but it really felt rushed. Not a lot of creativity in this game. The Dark Lord boss fight was absolutely terrible. You have to beat him 6x the exact same way, not to mention with the constant annoyance of him spawning spectre demons, and having to refill the hammer. There was absolutely no imagination or anything fun about it. Icon of Sin was a brutal boss fight but it was fun as hell. This was just plain annoying and discouraging at times. This was a really weak ending to an otherwise awesome saga. I also didn't really like the premise that the Dark Lord is Doom Guy in Hell, but my personal opinion there.

After playing all of the games, Doom 2016 is hands down the best and felt the most like Doom. Nothing but run and gun chaos. Felt by the end of TAG2 they just tried to get way too creative and complex with things. Doom wasn't meant to be a complex game.
