thoughts on cooper and crabtree in oakland? the raiders really didn't let carr throw downfield much, but those two receivers are good with short/intermediate routes and after the catch (provided crabtree can overcome that achilles' injury that plagued him last year).

I'd say no, but it really comes down to what is left for you after the first few rounds and your late round picks. My main league has been 6pt tds since we started it up 7 years ago. There has only been 1 season when a person who took a QB first round won the championship.
Most of the time the winners wait on QB and just plug and play guys like flacco, big ben, etc and outperform the ones who took a QB earlier in the draft.
Not sure if is like this for other leagues though.https://www.bogleheads.org/ for excellent investing advice for beginners

i see the CJ spiller hype train already left the station. here we go. inb4 top 20 pick. inb4 bust of the year
The Baton Rouge Advocate's Nick Underhill predicts C.J. Spiller will handle more touches than Mark Ingram this year.
Underhill guesses Ingram could handle 185 carries to 140 for Spiller, and the latter is sure to be used far more in the passing game. "With the baseline set, I expect Spiller to end up with more touches," writes Underhill. Underhill continues on Spiller, "I expect him to do big things" in Sean Payton's offense. While we'd still bet on Ingram leading New Orleans' backfield in usage, we can't rule out Spiller earning a sizable workload depending on health and performance, and playing a huge role as a receiver. Spiller has legitimate RB1 upside in PPR leagues.

Agreed with this. Depending on how much interceptions hurt you I always like to skip out on the top QBs and go with some solid RB's or a good RB1 WR1 w/ first two picks. Guys like Big Ben, Cutler (INB4 LOL), Flacco can be played vs. good matchups. I rolled with Cutler the first part of the year when Brady was struggling and people wanted his head (switched to Brady to finish out the year), but Cutler did pretty well for me. Again definitely depends on scoring type in your league.

We play full point PPR and QB passing TDs are worth 6. Lacy, Rodgers, and Cobb/Jordy will probably all go in the first round in this league.
While I agree there are probably some better bargain QBs you can get at later rounds, the consistent passing attack/production from the top QBs was unmatched last year. The playoffs had Rodgers, Brees, Peyton, Brady. Luck was the only one missing.
Personally, I'm not a fan of taking a QB first round, but watching Rodgers/Manning/Luck put up 40-50 points almost every week was hard to overcome, especially since a good week for an RB is 20+
The bargain guys like Big Ben, Flacco, Tannehill, etc. are OK to play for matchups, but you're gonna get burned from a position that typically scores the most in our league due to the obnoxious passing TD rule. It does make the draft more interesting, but in our league RBs are more and more likely to fall out of the first rounds because they just don't bring the points. Target monsters and QBs will make up majority of the first round, I really only see Lacy, Charles, and McCoy, maybe Forte (ppr), going first round. I've already talked to 4 league members and they all say they wouldn't draft Le'veon Bell until at the earliest the 2nd.
It's a weird league...I think I would truly only feel comfortable with Rodgers as a first round pick, and that's not happening in this league unless I'm a top 3. He's the only guy I see consistently being worth that kind of price as far as passing numbers week to week regardless of matchup.

Keeper Question
12 team snake keeper league. Keepers can be kept indefinitely. Lose the round they were drafted in.
I'm pick 10.
Pick 2
Lacy- 3rd
Mike Evans- 8th
Hopkins- 13th

I've never done a keeper league so take my advice with a grain of salt, but it looks obvious to me to keep Lacy and Evans. No way you get a Lacy quality back in round 3, and Evans is a very solid WR2 with WR1 potential (pending Winston). If you keep those 2 then target a QB and WR1 with your first two picks I'd think you'd be looking really good. Looking at the other teams lineups, can you guess who they might all keep and what players might be available with your first 2 picks?

I was thinking Lacy and Evans too. I'm looking at Rodgers, Demaryius, Megatron, Nelson, Julio, and maybe McCoy. Most people in our league keep RBs.

For sure would take Rodgers with first pick if he is there. Wouldn't mind any of those WR's as my WR1 either (though Nelson might make you too dependent on the Packers if you have Lacy and Rodgers). Then in the fourth you could look for a RB2, since most of your league keeps RB's guys like Gordon, Gurley, and whoever is getting the carries in Dallas should be available and possibly pretty late.

I had Rodgers last year and really enjoyed it. Plus it's a 6pt passing td league. The only bad thing is gurley and Gordon will likely go 2-3rds. 4th rd I'm looking at RBs like giovani Bernard, Martin, Crowell

does CJ Spiller pay these writers at the start of every season ?!?
The New Orleans Times-Picayune's Jeff Duncan issued a fantasy alert on C.J. Spiller, advising to "draft Spiller on your fantasy football team."
"The Saints are going to get him the ball in a number of ways this season," writes Duncan. "If he can stay healthy, he could have a breakout year. It certainly won't be for lack of opportunity." The Spiller hype train has been full-steam ahead for weeks now, though his ADP has actually dropped from the top of the fourth round to the top of the fifth. Brandin Cooks is the favorite to lead New Orleans in targets, but Spiller could finish a close second. PPR drafters should be eyeballing him.Always $trive and Prosper

lacy for sure. he's a top 3 RB/player.
i think evans vs. hopkins is interesting. 5 rounds is a pretty big deal. i'd take the chance on hopkins. both WRs have new QBs that will likely struggle (rookie QBs almost always struggle, even top picks). it'll be interesting to see if no johnson helps or hurts hopkins though. either way, i don't think their production will be all too different.Official Misc Straight Crew (90% straight and up)

b-b-but their beat writer just came out and said draft him for your fantasy team!
Interesting stat released regarding Frank Gore today, played against the most 8 man boxes out of any RB last year, most likely a product of zero respect for Kaep's passing game. Now that he's moved to Luck he shouldn't see as many stacked boxes and could potentially return to RB1 status...*Korea Krew* *MMMC*

anybody who had bradshaw last year when he was healthy will tell you gore has a pretty good shot at a nice fantasy year. i'd be skeptical due to age and miles on him. but if you can tell me i'll get him later(ish) and have him as a third RB or a flex i might do it. never been a big fan of his but that offense will be ridiculous. wouldn't mind handcuffing with "boom" herron either.

This is the only reason that makes me feel like he might not slip into the value range, outside of Trent just about every RB they've plugged in has performed well, so I think there will be some players who might be overzealous on a proven commodity like Gore stepping into such "assured production"
Did a few mocks yesterday and hated just about every team I came away with, seems like valuations over the last 2 years have become incredibly more variant as we've seen a much larger landscape change via player trades/moves/coaching changes/rookie success, it's crazy
2 years ago Pierre Garcon was a monster, now he's not even being drafted or he's going as a second-to-last round pick*Korea Krew* *MMMC*

So I am in a keeper/auction league where each year we can keep up to 6 players.
I won the championship last year, so I've got a target on my back and it turns out not a living soul is willing to trade with me.
Trying to figure out my 6th keeper... Note I have a $500 salary cap and a flex no PPR
Currently my list looks like:
Cam Newton $28 (Cheap)
Jeremy Hill $6
Dez $103
Jeffery $10
Greg Olson $11
My #6 options are (Pick one)
M. Lynch $165 (Very expensive, but I do have some salary cap space)
Blount $28 (Not a lot of guys threatening him for touches and he might get a lot of use week 2 to 4)
Maclin $8 (Not enthused about Alex Smith throwing him the ball)
Joseph Randle $11 (Honestly I grabbed him last year because I wanted to use him as trade leverage with DeMarco Murray when he got hurt. Never expected him to have a chance to win the starting job behind Dallas' line... And he's DIRT CHEAP, with 2 more years on his contract with my team)
Now that it appears I have no trade partners... I'm really leaning Randle.
This year a lot of stud backs will be going back into the pool... If Randle plays halfway decent, he could be my flex and I'd have money to draft one of: Forte, Charles, Peterson, Lynch, McCoy.

Definitely a solid top five group of keepers. And I agree, go with Randle, he's cheap, and has a good chance to get some serious points if things go his way. Plus you have a solid RB in Hill so you can at least risk a chance on him. Plus you'd only be at 169$ with plenty leftStats:

Thanks!
Yeah I was thinking about it a little more... If I keep Randle for cheap... Then I could stash him as my flex starter... With the money I'd have left available I could then buy Shady McCoy, Charles or Peterson. That would make my top 7
Cam
McCoy
Hill
Dez
Jefferey
Olson
Randle
Although with the money I'd have to pay for McCoy, He'd have to go back into the pool next year... And Dez, Jeffery and Olson are on the final year of their contracts with my team, so they'd have to go back next year... Basically no matter how I butter the bread 2016 is going to be an almost total rebuilding year for me.6'4"
