I have always wanted to try espresso at home, but in the past I didn't really spend alot on the equipment.

What can I expect to spend minimum to get a good espresso?

I don't spend a whole lot on espresso since I drink it so infrequently, but I brew it in my moka pot which isn't terribly expensive as far as equipment goes.

But seriously though. My mind was in a constant fog until I started drinking coffee, and as far as heart health, my grandparents are all old as hell (late 80s-90s) and they have been drinking coffee multiple times daily for 60+ years.

Hnggg.. I've tried that method but never got the ratios correct or rather didnt put in the effort to get proper ratios so it always came out watered down.

Haven't gone a day without coffee in five years. Tried once, had to get a coke from the store to deal with caffeine withdrawal. A habit that I will defend for the rest of my life.

I recently got a classic stove top espresso machine that works pretty well. Similar to the one posted on front page. Thinking about getting a legit espresso machine for maximum gains.

I think at a minimum you can get a gaggia classic (what I have @ $400) and get a gaggia MDF for $250. Keep in mind an MDF only does espresso grind. No coarse settings for FP. Like others have said, moka pots are worth it too if you don't want to invest.

Be careful when you do. My Dad has been drinking Folgers for years (not even full strength at that) and when I went for a visit and made him a "real" pot I nearly killed him.

French press is easy once you get the ratios down. Boil water, grind beans, 4 minutes later it's done

Of course there's more to it but its worth it for good coffee.

I have never been able to use it correctly. There are always grinds in the coffee and i'm not a fan of that... am i doing it wrong?

That's a characteristic of the French Press. Sediment is able to pass through the press but at the same time you get more coffee oils. They oil and after taste is what they term as "body".

If you want something more clean, try a filter method. V60 or Chemex will alleviate the grind problem.

I used one of these a couple weeks ago at a friends house. It provided a consistent grind and is dirt cheap.

Getting one as soon as I get my Aeropress...
