Right. And the reason why I make that point is because the OP says "I'm still trying to eat healthy". Fruit for example is more healthy than potato chips, so I would suggest considering replacing the chips for fruit.
Isn't good to have someone in the section bring something else to the table other than "az long az it fits ur micros ur good"?
I'm just suggesting to look at other choices.

Disenfranchised is one of the better members on here from what i've read, as is Jempalmer. Listen to them, not disregard them. They know what they're on about.
And really, i can't believe people are discussing whether potato chips are healthy or not. Did anyone go to school?! lol
Everyone knows chips are **** for you... Jesus lol

No one says this.
Certainly. They're potatoes and oil.
I didn't know schools teach their students about the nutritional profiles of chips. How are they "****" for you?
Oh, and Jesus has nothing to do with this arguement.Last edited by xl Achilles lx; 01-23-2009 at 05:51 PM.

almost no saturated fat (even if that was an issue) and potato's. you eat no sodium in a day?

they are not good for you at all! The calorie count may be okay in some potatoe chips but the fact that they are not natural and extremely preserved means they are harder for your body to digest..thus staying in your system longer and increasing the chances of fat storage...
dont know if i explained it right. basically don't over indulge - but you can have them at times..-->MMC<--

Certain fatty (saturated) and amino (BCAAs) acids can illicit sizable insulin responses, or "spikes," as they are commonly referred.
Do have any references for this?
You're comparing murder, assault and illegal narcotics to "dirty" foods. Consuming potato chips is going to be of far less significance than committing any of the felonies mentioned as examples.
No. Insulin has a negligible effect on fax oxidation.Nutrition and Supp Science FAQ:

Mentioned in several of the books I have read. They are basically providing you with no nutrients. Nutrients are most prominent in food at its most fresh state. A fried and preserved potato chip is unlikely to contain any vitamins. Saturated fats are not very good for you and neither are the sodium levels in chips...
As long as you?re not living off chips (which you are not); it is okay to have them sometimes...
LOL don?t stress!!
hope i was some help :s-->MMC<--

In terms of bodybuilding nutrition chips are bad for you. This is the nutrition section of a bodybuilding website, presumably you are looking for an answer from a bodybuilding perspective. Chips are certainly not a bodybuilders food of choice.
In terms of the average joe, I don't think chips will harm you and you may still be able to reach your goals. However If you want to have the best physique you can possibly have then I don't think chips would form part of your regular diet unless you are an absolute genetic freak.

Post of 2009 so far. Well explained
If you don't wanna talk bodybuilding, don't come to bodybuilding.com. Because all you're doin is confusing other people by using an irrelevant perspective like Russell alluded to. People come here looking for advice on bodybuilding, not living the "average lifestyle" of an average joe schmuck.
Doesn't just apply to this particular thread either. There's plenty of general health & fitness forums on the internet to participate in if bodybuilding itself isn't your thing.Last edited by Simmo0508; 01-24-2009 at 03:14 AM.

Wow. This thread is filled with the most idiotic people.
It's like clockwork that these threads bring a train of myopic, neurotic, binary thinking fools. Lots of simple minds who can't integrate concepts and apply logical thought.
Ya'll obviously have issues with self control and lack any perspective whatsoever.
If you want to have a few chips and can exercise self control, have a few chips. It will make absolutely NO difference in your lifetime. You don't have to eat 500 calories worth.
