It's not exactly what he said that's important, it's the timing of it. According to experts, it means that there was no struggle in the cockpit.
I'd rather believe people who are experts in the field, flying for 30+ years than some misc theorists. If they say it's unusual and the timing is important, then I tend to believe them.

As coconut as this thread is, there's actually some good info. For example, I see people on ******** asking "herp derp why is there a button to turn off the transponder?!?" as if it would be that easy. i think i read on this thread or @flywithfish that it requires tearing certain wires out in the ceiling (i think)

Now that there is strong evidence it crashed into the strait of Malakka, which would be perfectly in line with them losing contact in that area, tinfoil hat theories about how it was hijacked and brough to who know where to turn it into a nuclear weapon sure look stupid.

But think about it...if they know for certain the transponder was shut off before the "All right, good night" call was made, wouldn't there be some kind of struggle in the cockpit? It would take special tools to open that door which leads to the transponder and the acars circuit and the tools are almost always located in or around the cockpit.

Lets say they cannot find it over the next few weeks, at what stage do they stop looking?

Take 2. @YouTube page of #MH370 pilot, #ZaharieShah - No obv. role of religion 4 those seeking1 http://s.shr.lc/1eHt4RJ @cnnbrk @BlogsofWar
looks like the pilot was an athiest? that would lean towards more economic reasons for a hijack, as speculated in here.

I'm pretty sure the transponder is just turned off by the rotation of the knob, and the ASCAR or whatever it is needs to be shut off by going into some circuits or something so for that to be shut off it would require opening things up?
