I aim to please!.....glad you approve.
Wait just a minute....are you challenging me to write a new song with the B/pipes?.
IIIIIII don't think so as my recording software may get pissed at me and lock me out of all my other song writing efforts.

Ha...good one on the flaming bagpipe exhaust exhibition.

Good for Al....he's certainly in a class of his own.

I think I’ll wait on the Harvard study, or better yet several. Weren’t they using the combination of both drugs together? I haven’t looked into it since my entire life is prevention and response to suspected and positive cases for critical infrastructure employees right now...
Didn’t your Mayor create a huge special police force to enforce the stay at home order, then do a 180 and say everything’s open? Lol

There has to be a reason why hundreds of doctors are prescribing and supervising HCQ and the antibiotic when appropriate, to well over 4000 patients in New York alone. Also, being used in many other States. Not a cure and not promoted as a cure. Currently, there is more positive anecdotal evidence than there is negative anecdotal evidence, as in deaths or severe side effects - so far.

I heard some docs were illegally prescribing it so they could take it themselves as a prophylactic...Would be great if they get something figured out, but the studies would be tough to do. Study participants will matter. While it has killed people of all ages, most of the people that are dying are people that weren’t long for this earth due to other serious medical conditions or just plain old age; which is scarier to me than people with serious underlying medical conditions honestly.
Combine that with small sample groups and makes it difficult to tease out real good data.Last edited by Plateauplower; 04-07-2020 at 06:57 PM.

I don't disagree mostly. HCQ though, has been distributed by the State of New York. Studies and clinical data is important, but for the time being with people at risk or even dying, the right to try should be available and this is what these doctors are doing. This shouldn't be political, but it is and sad.
If HCQ and the antibiotic if appropriate can save some people, it is worth it. For those with pre-existing underlying conditions, they would be at a disadvantage no matter what scourge goes around.
There are other treatments coming up in due course. Huge challenge, but true hope.Last edited by Mark1T; 04-07-2020 at 07:07 PM.

IDK all I did was click "English" at the popup in my browser and then I read it
The preliminary results of a study done with chloroquine by Fiocruz and the Tropical Medicine Foundation showed that the lethality in the group of patients with Covid-19 tested, in serious condition, was 13%.
Of 81 inpatients who took the drug, 11 died.
The mortality rate seen in patients in the same condition who did not use the drug is 18%, according to international studies, including in China.
The proximity of the two indices does not allow to affirm, for the time being, that chloroquine can make a fundamental difference in the treatment of patients infected with the new coronavirus .
"Optimists may think that [the rate with the use of chloroquine] is lower. Pessimists may think that it is the same. Statistically, it is the same, in the margin of confidence", says infectologist Marcus Lacerda, from Fiocruz , who participates in the study .
The research must therefore continue until the data is conclusive. "Anything can. But we can't find anything," he says, reaffirming that it is necessary to wait for the scientific and safe conclusions of the study.
He predicts that 440 patients, from different hospitals in the country, will be tested - and it can last for two to three months. The research group is also integrated by cardiologist Ludhmila Hajjar, from Incor de SP.
The initial idea was that half of the patients would take a 10g dose of chloroquine and the other group, half of that.
The higher dose, however, proved to be toxic, causing unwanted reactions, such as arrhythmia and "other serious complications", says Marcus Lacerda.
The preliminary conclusions have already been sent for publication in a scientific journal precisely because the tests showed that the higher dose of chloroquine can cause damage. And conclusions about patient safety need to be made known quickly.
"When we compared the groups of different doses, we saw more toxicity at the high dose. That's why we suspended this arm of the study," says the doctor. "Now everyone will use only the low dose."
"Our study [so far] can only state that the high dose is very toxic", concludes Marcus Lacerda.
The use of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine in patients with coronavirus has become the watchword of President Jair Bolsonaro, who wants to release the use even before the safe completion of studies in Brazil and worldwide.
Health Minister Luiz Mandetta has refused to endorse widespread use before the scientists' final word.

True there are side effects, but from what I have read, not everyone is given the drugs and the doctors are very aware of the side effects and risks. So, there is no argument here and I do not believe doctors are ignoring the side effects.
Here is another doctor's opinion:

There wasn't a special link to let me read for free.... so that popup never came up. Thank you for just posting the information so we can read it.
Ok... just lower the dose to a known safe amount and continue treating (if no other treatment exists). If people are dying left and right from covid as you insist, then all the red tape is doing is killing people.

...what?
IDK what you are talking about with insisting anything or when or where I ever said or implied anything about what drugs should or should not be given to whom or in what doses...?
Info and anecdotes on this are all over the place, what little actual data there is doesn't seem to be the magic bullet some are touting. But there's so little actual data, who knows? Maybe it is?
Make what you will of the info I link/post
