Awesome post. Thanks for the link.
I was looking all over the place online for these grinders lately but it seem they always have bad reviews. In your opinion, is this because of user error (read: morons operating the grinder) or is it because the grinders really aren't that good?
And in the case of your hand grinding method (lol wut?) is it REALLY almond butter or is it more like almond meal?
edit: (from the review section on your link)
Worst peanut butter maker Date: November 13, 2008
Pros: none
Cons: a piece of junk
"Don't waste your time or money. This peanut butter maker doesn't make anything! It grinds, makes a racket, gums up, but doesn't produce any creamy or crunchy peanut butter. Very disappointed!"

I have never used one of the linked grinder things... so I can't comment on the crap-ness of them....
But with my method (hand grinding ) - you just need a good blender container thingy.... And yes it is almond butter... but, as I said, you just need to be patient and wait for the oils to be released... If you don't wait enough time then it is just almond meal. So be prepared to wait - it takes a good few minutes (I'd say about 10 minutes). And you have to stand and wait because often the almonds 'run up the sides' and you have to tap them back down into the blades....
*edit* - just found a few links about making your own almond butter:

I have a place by my house that has the peanut grinder machine to make peanut butter, but are the macros different from other peanut butters since there is no oil? Or would the difference be minuscule?

Anyone else mad McDonald's removed the double cheese burger from their $.99 menu? It's now the McDouble for $.99, and we're being robbed of a slice of cheese.

I think the McDouble tastes way better than their double cheese burgers! They did something to the beef. Maybe it's real cow? lol. I can live with 1 slice of cheese & 2 patties, but it will take some adjusting
That's what I'm eating now. The $0.99 double stacks are pretty decent, but it doesn't taste nearly as good as the new McDouble. Less cheese, fewer calories, yes, but they revamped the seasoning for the patties. It tasted crispier with a hint of black pepper.
