minimum experience 1 year is a requirement for the kaiser jobs (generally from what I've seen)
starting $70, 24 hrs/week w/ full time benefits
3rd weekend double time, anything > 8 hr 1.5, anything >12 double time, etc etc etc
the top earner at my facility was like $275k because they worked every weekend so got continuous double pay for 16 hours or more every single weekendAugust 2023:
BW: 194
B: 315 x 3, 225 x 14 (PR: 335)
S: 315 x 2, 225 x 18 (PR's)
DL: 405 x 1 (PR); Trap Bar DL: 405 x 1
OHP: 185 x 3 (PR), 135 x 16

My fellow RN's.. what's your career trajectory/plan? I like nursing but i feel like i gotta make more money than what I'm earning now.
med school = too long
NP's job is not exactly enticing. I see what they do in emergency department. Soon this field will be saturated. Every RN i know is going for their NP lmao.
PA = more expensive than np school and can't work while in school
CRNA = meh ,not interested.
Management = I'm not all about that lifeLast edited by athrun340; 03-22-2016 at 08:51 PM.

Was going to become a flight nurse, probably should have just stayed in the unit and rotted - RN salary in MA is a legit, second only to Cali and maybe NYC.
Sales rep might be another option for you....you have to sell your soul, but the money is good and being ripped is in your favor.CRNA Crew

I heard $45/hr. Highest Ive heard is $50/hr being offered by some hospitals in the city. I dont really want to get another job especially a float job. There's just no stability in that kind of position. My goal is to have a good work life balance while maintaining a good income. I'm willing to go to school/work hard in order to attain that. I just don't think I can achieve/sustain that goal with a prn job.
yea i heard about that. Flight nurses should be getting paid more considering all the qualifications you need in order to become one.
haha yea no sales rep for me. I'm not all about the money. I'm still compassionate and love to help people so what i do is still important to me. Maybe I'll reconsider med school.

Im looking at sales rep, either durable goods or pharmaceutical. Willing to sell soul.
I've also looked at doing an MBA in Healthcare administration, which I think could be fun. Doing G something along the lines of consulting for risk assessment, acquisitions (which I think is the future of most Healthcare systems), or even managing but on the business side vs the staff like a nurse manager. Skip the nursing management degrees and go MBA instead. Can work in a ton of different fields and even get involved on opening clinics, hospitals, etc.
When I think about that route, it gets me excited. I'm holding off at the moment because of some plans my BF and I have for when he finishes residency. The business knowledge will help but I have asked to other MD business owners who say it just takes a mix of creativity and balls.
I'm with you though, I want more. What's Spicy Training For?? LIFE MOTHER F-ER!

Does the prestige or ranking of a nursing school matter in finding a job or getting into a grad program like medicine or other professional programs? I see nurses from schools having a highly ranked bsn program, and also tons of nurses from bull**** schools like south or keiser doing rn programs. Do they have a shot?

Anyone giving out anyone's number without their explicit consent is terrible. Yeah her number may be available online, but it could be by mistake, or as of now, not many people know that and haven't called her on it. You've got to take those things seriously. No one should feel they have the right to give out someone else's number just because it's online. If someone asks you for it, you either say you don't know or let me find out and then you ask permission to give out a number.
We had a nurse here that gave out doctor's phone numbers to patients freely and was under the impression that patients should be able to communicate with their doctors directly. She got reprimanded asaptuously and rightfully so.
Now if the nurse was wrongfully accused and the physician is jumping to conclusions then that's a terrible way to approach the situation. But I know I'd be livid if I found out someone gave a patient, company, anyone my personal cell without my permission
And off topic, but I didn't know UWorld catered to the NCLEX as well. UWorld has a monopoly on all medically-related exams...but it's so damn good I can't hate.

MBA or MPH are both great degrees, seems like tons of MDs have one or the other these days.
Sales rep is a chance to make huge money, although the pharm reps are pretty much just awful people working for the devil, but all the other reps are no worse than other salesman. I'm sure all the good you've done caring for sick kids would balance off the bad of being a soulless rep
I was thinking about getting my Ph.D. and playing around with some research, but I've got expensive hobbies, so I'll probably just stay at the head of the bed and rot. But a career of 100% patient care isn't for everyone.CRNA Crew

GoodLuck!
Also consider Sharp...... I was totally unhappy at UCSD. Disorganized/10000000. As an employee and patient at Sharp, I was entirely impressed. As a patient and employee at UCSD? Get me the fuq out. UCSD is opening their hospital up in La Jolla, which is going to be gorgeous, but......
Also, Scripts up in La Jolla is really nice too, so Ive heard. What's Spicy Training For?? LIFE MOTHER F-ER!
