I have been hitting my deads really hard lately. Looking for a new PB.

I just ordered an Okie deadlift bar and got to use it for the first time tonight.

Good and bad news. I loved the bar, but I had an 'off' day in the gym

Was all psyced to use the new bar. (which I did). I really like it, the feel..etc. I can notice a difference at the bottom of my pull. It really suits my style of peeling the weight off the ground rather then exploding. (I am not an explosive deadlifter)

Unfortunately, I just could not get in the right mindset again. Lots of excuses.....bad nights sleep, then spending all day working in front of a computer....etc. All excuses but I was not my best walking in.

I think I am going to give the reps a break for a while and start working down to a new single over the next few weeks.

I shot a vid with just 495 so you can see the reaction of the bar. I played with the bar a little, tugging it etc. It is lively for sure. I like it. Here is that weight.

Here is my 605 set, and I only got 4 reps. Disappointed as you can see 5 was NOT in me. But I can see from the vid that this bar will really suit the way I pull. The heavier the weight, the more it gives.
Awesome ID. Sweet bar. I never pulled with one of those. I like the sox

Thanks Pharm. The bar is cool and I think over time, if I learn to use it properly I will be able to take advantage of it's properties.

It was not noticeable at lower weights. Above 495 I could feel the difference. At 585 it was significant. Hoping at I get up into 1rm territory it improves even more.

Here is a cap of the bar coming off the ground at 605. Hard to say, but it looks like I am gaining about an 1"

Funny you mention the socks. I was having issues figuring out what to wear with my vibrams. I did not want toe socks. I really like to dead in my vibrams over my Asics. I think my heel feels more stable. It would roll at times in my asics causing knee strain. Anyway....I found Adidas make 'stirrup' socks for soccer. Guess if you dont like wearing socks in your shoes but you need a place to put your shin guards in. I ordered them off a UK site. Problem of socks and vibrams solved!

Wow. That is pretty significant and very noticeable. The 605 is way out of my league. I am in the lower 500 range for 1 rep max. I may pick one up. I think they go for $300-$400. Yes?

Oh, and TMonkey loves the socks too. Send him a pair

435x1 today at 190lbs and 37 years of age. It came up fairly easily, so I'm sure there's more left in the tank.

A question for you DL experts: How often should one attempt a max deadlift? I don't want to keep pushing the envelope here if I'm putting myself at risk of injury. I'm hoping to break into the 500's next year.

I have hit 495x5 before so went for that but left hand slipping at top of 4th so didn't go for a fifth. I know with chalk Id have 5..

Hi Guys - new to the forum - first post!
I'm 35 (36 this year) so on the younger side.

    I weigh 178lb.

I have a vid of a 285kg conventional lift somewhere and I just did a trap bar lift of 569lb the other day. Will get those uploaded when I can.

Great that there is an over 35 section as I start to wonder if it's a young man's game these days!

Eeek! Typo dude - apologies. Should be 220kg conventional which is 485lb - started typing the kg and finished with the lb number!

    Yes that would be sick!
    Bodybuild more than powerlift.

    DL - 220kg/485lb
    Trap bar DL - 258kg/569lb
    BP - 115kg/253lb

    Weight 178lb/81kg
    Height 5'8"/ 173cm

I confess I was wondering why your trap bar was so much less than your conventional. 200kg is still a huge lift at 80kg IMO though . Welcome to the forum - looking forward to the vids - always nice to see some big lifts from us scrawny feckers.
