swimming is something that really takes a toll on ur calroies because u are exerting nearly all ur muscles and really burning up a lot of calories pretty fast
and for as much training as they do a swimming workout is killer.. it really doesnt surprise me he takes in about 8k cals..
i would love to know what the hell he eats for those 8k cals though because i know on most days he trains 2 times or so for over 60-90 minutes or so and its pretty intense
woudl be interesting to see his diet mapped out

I read a lot about professional swimmer's and what not
Most of them do not eat clean at all...Layzie you have to remember that MOST people do not eat clean despite all the research out
Plus it would be almost impossible to eat clean and 8-10k
ANYWAYS
I forget who, but whoever is the top olympic male swimmer for the US has 8-10 gigantic chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast usually I read
They need all the calories they can get. They swim 15-20 miles a day and I know from being on a swim team, 2-3 miles alone is an easy 600-700 calories.

Hahaha... do you know how much 4000 cal a day would be, you would be in for quite a weight gain (if your weight is correct)... I was eating 4000 cals a day and went up from 210-235 in one and a half months (including 2 hours of weightlifting+cardio+8 hour shifts at a physical job). I highly doubt you are consuming 4000 calories. Props to the person who started the thread for being realistic on this one 4500 at his weight is believable. I on the other hand have only been able to consume something like 9000 calories (clean) max. And BTW I actually do consume around 4000+ on a regular basis.

haha... this thread is good for some laughs atleast... highly doubtable but funny. edited *3500* calories equals one pound of fat, 1200-1400 calories for a pound of muscle.... 10+ pounds of weight added to your frame in one day, and by the way its not food weight that you would be adding on, that is fat and muscle (most likely fat). And swimmers burn about 800-1200 cals per hour. So maybe a diet of about 6000 cals tops for them. Now I would want to see what shaq eats... or for that matter his food bill.

There is a reason I didn't respond to yours... yours is somewhat believable, but the other guy is about 20 pounds lighter and says that he is eating it like no prob., by the way what does your diet look like?
And sibrek sorry if it seems like im trolling and thanks for correction.

Ya I know it seems a little unbeleivable, I was thinking the same thing when I first started on these forums. I was like 3500 cals? That is a ton. 0530 (Pre WO)
1 pack Quaker Weight control oatmeal
1.5 cup skim milk
1.25 scoop ON Whey
0630 (During WO)
Size on
0730 (Post WO)
2 Scoops ON WHey
2 Scoops Gatorade Powder
0830(Post post WO)
2 eggs
2 egg whites
1 WW bagel
1 packet regular oatmeal
1 cup Skim Milk
1130
1 WW Wrap
1 can tuna
1 cup brocolli
.5 banana
1 peanut butter ball (Peanut butter, flaxseed, banana)
1430
Homade weight shake
.75 cup oats
1 scoop On whey
.5 banana
1.5 tbsp Peanut butter
1730
2 slices WW bread
6 oz chicken breast
1 cup WW pasta
1 cup brocolli\
Fish oil pills
2100
1.5 scoop muscle milk
1.5 cup milk
I would like to get some more real food in there (Less shakes) but it is really hard due to my schedule. It has been working for me so far so I am gonna stick with it for nowHard times don't last, hard people do.

Thanks for posting, I can't say that it is bs for sure but at about 150 4000 cals a day is a lot, and I put on 30 pounds in one and a half months at fifty pounds heavier, with 1000 more cals than he was eating, but who knows? BTW reps for you for posting how much you eat with cals.

Man, if it were a cheat day, I'd have no problem eating YOU and a few bowls of rice. In fact, I'd probably be left hungry.
But, seeing as how an entire pizza has over 3000 calories, a carton of ice cream over 2000 calories, and Christmas desserts and other various things are equally calorie-dense if not more, I can definitely remember some damn wonderful and gluttonous holidays the likes of which would make Takeru Kobayashi sick.
EDIT: referring back to this post, I have no idea why you quoted me as your response is nearly irrelevant to my own post. Did that 'quote' button just look tempting or something?Last edited by siamesedream; 08-02-2007 at 09:51 AM.

Sorry if I made anyone mad, but as someone who is over 80 pounds heavier I find it hard to believe that someone that small could eat as much as me. If you look at my other post I have a link to it. 'Metabolism' is to much of a thrown around word so I am not going to deal with it, but when we talk about calories consumed I am thinking that we are talking about utilizable calories (follow the link on my other post and it discusses this).

i was only 148 when i had a 30k calorie christmas and Eve cheatfeast. I know i hit 30k on christmas because i actully tracked everything i ate. Just because people are small doesnt mean they can't pack in the food.
Needless to say i went back to normal eating after the Eve and my weight was 162 which did not go back down untill i drastically cut again...Deport ALL Illegal Aliens

No man you didn't make anyone mad I don't think, at least not me. People are just trying to say that it is possible/probable people eat that many calories everyday just to put some pounds on. There are reasons why people are called hardgainers and why we are this small in the first place.

Keep in mind I used to weigh 475 pounds. I did calculations back in January to figure how much I used to eat daily. I used to eat on average 9-12,000 calories a day. Thats at least two fast food meals, misc junk food, etc. On really bad days I would eat upwards of 20,000 calories a day.
Right now I eat 3000 clean calories a day.
