Back when I made 75k I thought I was a baller. Then 100k. And on and on. This was years ago, mind you. And I was a baller back then.

Now I'm at 425k but don't feel rich. Why? It's because I live in Socal and cost of living is insane. For me to get a house I'd be 100% content with I have to pay $1.5 million minimum in my area. If this were 10-15 years ago I'd have the dream house with a swimming pool. More difficult now.

Life is still great, but the value of a dollar really depends on where you live.

If you are truly at 425k you should be able to leverage that experience and get a similar or higher job outside of that Ca ****hole.

some ppl are content with that and whatever but if i was making 35k at 39yo id accept i had become a failure at life especially if i had a family to support n a wife who also had to work FT.

plenty of couples around here that make around $20/hr each and live very comfortably.

Idk how it is in the US but commercial is a higher level of licensing and much more regulatory compliance than residential

I'm currently trying to get more site experience. That's really what I'm missing, can't build a house without that.

Yea, not sure how the "average" person is getting by these days.

Median household income in the city I live it $67k.......My wife makes $70k and I make $135k

We have some friends that the husband works and the wife is a stay home mom.....he makes about $55k and they always decline to hang out because "they just dont have the money" and one time while hanging out with them the wife was talking about some of their other friends and she says "they travel all the time, the are ballin out of control, they both make like $70k/year" .......and my wife and I just looked at each other and lol'd internally to each other.
