How much does that job pay? I would do it if it was at least $75k a year. I'm not scared of heights but I wouldn't be climbing those towers unless I was being paid a substantial amount of money.

free climbing isn't allowed, you'll be fired on the spot
the only time we free climb is if you're a radio tower worker and you need to climb beyond the safety tower onto equipment that has no tie off points (does have climbing pegs though), those guys are usually working 1000 - 2000' in the air. I do broadcast work sometimes and have worked at 1400' but have never done or had to do any free climbing.
there is a lot of over time and long days but the more you can do and the harder you can work the more you can make, it isn't difficult to clear six figures if you're built for it.***Canadian Crew***

did they make you sign a waiver when you climbed it anyway even though winds were above the threashold?
do you have life insurance?
do you ever think about the structural integrity of the climbing posts and safety tie off points, they have all been sitting in the weather up there all day for years and may not have been used for years, are you worried one could just give out when you put your weight on it?
do they give them any special attention when building it, like do they NDT all the welds on every single step/peg of the ladder?

62mph
I have great life insurance, my mom will be rich if I die srs
I sign a JSA every morning
I was questioning whether the tower was going to collapse the whole time, but just think about the fact that it's been up there that long
trees were falling everywhere from the wind, i was more worried about a tree falling on a guy line
I build them as well as climb them and know for a fact they are built to very high standards
it's galvanized steel it doesn't get much weather damage over time***Canadian Crew***
