    IIRC phytic acid only chelates metals when it is in direct contact with them, such as in this 1988 study, in which iron is SUPPLEMENTED directly with the nuts
    also IIRC iron supplements aren't ever absorbed as well as foodborne iron

    all that if remembering correctly done, I think it is still safe to assume that a varied and balanced diet is still the way to go, and nuts certainly still fit the bill.
    I get OP's drift that exaggeration is bad, but that is true with every single food (moderation is a concept loss it seems), and I'm pretty sure he could've used a better way to pass his message...

    I eat peanut butter 2-3 times a day plus a nice handful of nuts every day. My magnesium and zinc levels are great. My last tested test was high normal. Maybe I'm a mutant, I'm immune to the poisons of peanuts
