Lol we're so sorry OP for twisting your arm and not taking your text post as fact. I should have trusted you.
Serious Q: Link contains reference to study "Inhibitory effect of nuts on iron absorption" which makes OP's query, imo, no longer worthy of complete ridicule. I'd genuinely like to hear people's thoughts on it:

I love threads like this. No negging needed because everyone has already negged OP, and all the funny comments help me get off spread with other members. *thumbs up*

I agree, OP. I can just see salted and roasted peanuts in their shell... Okay, they're missing some chest shell and leg and arm shell to make way for their strong legume legs and chest. They've got shield and sword (or battle-axe if you're anal about it... ...Or you know, nuts about it! Haha!) a la 300 Warriors, waiting to fight tooth and nail against your muscles.
IT WILL BE A GLORIOUS BATTLE!
THIS IS PEANURTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

The article the OP is talking about is here: http://chriskresser.com/another-reas...o-nuts-on-nuts
Nuts apparently limit iron absorption: http://ajcn.nutrition.org/content/47/2/270.full.pdf

oh 1988... I thought we were talking about recent stuff?
IIRC phytic acid only chelates metals when it is in direct contact with them, such as in this 1988 study, in which iron is SUPPLEMENTED directly with the nuts
also IIRC iron supplements aren't ever absorbed as well as foodborne iron
all that if remembering correctly done, I think it is still safe to assume that a varied and balanced diet is still the way to go, and nuts certainly still fit the bill.
I get OP's drift that exaggeration is bad, but that is true with every single food (moderation is a concept loss it seems), and I'm pretty sure he could've used a better way to pass his message...ᕙ(´• ͜ʖ •`)ᕗ

"My name is Chris Kresser, and I’m a licensed acupuncturist and practitioner of integrative medicine"
Nuff said. Pseudoscience plus alternative medicine = BS.
I eat peanut butter 2-3 times a day plus a nice handful of nuts every day. My magnesium and zinc levels are great. My last tested test was high normal. Maybe I'm a mutant, I'm immune to the poisons of peanuts
