I think his waist is fine for his frame especially considering his quads look they may even be as big as it. Very massive but you can notice small mostly conditioning related things that could be improved but since he did just turn pro that is to be expected. Would have to see him in a pro show standing next to pros to make a full judgement on how he currently compares.

Flex Wheeler is a top 2 Olympia finisher. Those don't come around very often. Hell, Flex lost because Ronnie Coleman exists. Someone doesn't have to have that kind of potential to be considered as possibly being successful in the future.

I know he's not as "perfectly" developed as guys like Phil and Kai but wow! 282lbs contest weight makes for a hell of a size difference. Until we see him on stage next to other pros we can't pass proper judgement on his potential and his physique though.
I'm gonna say this now though, and I'm prepared to eat my own words if I'm wrong, but I believe he should be able to place top ten easily, and depending on his conditioning top 6 at the pro Olympia. He's already qualified so he has a whole year to prepare, the same kind of advantage that Phil, Kai and Rhoden enjoy.

I see people post this a lot so I wanna know, what does maxed out look like? I guess people could have said that about Ronnie, but then he got bigger and bigger still. It's one of the silliest things I see posted so often, you can't look at a physique and tell just because they are holding X amount of mass that they can't put anymore size on, or make improvements to their proportions and conditioning. Nothing in this sport is predictable.
They don't look "spilled over" to me. Maybe not the greatest conditioning in terms of the amount of fat they are carrying on all of them, but many of them look like they are holding very little water. You're right though, the lighting has an effect on how much separation is showing on these guys.
