I had problems with spotting on implanon and ended up getting it out. Thankfully the Dr was skilled and I didn't end up with a big scar. It's easier to put in than take out.
I also has problems on the pill with acne. Diane made it better for a while but then it returned.
For a while I had a non-hormonal IUD so that I could give my body a break from the hormones. Was ok but cramps were an issue.
Apparently Mirena is a good IUD option. It releases hormones locally which reduce period length, some women don't get one at all.
You could always just try having a break from the pill for a few months and then trying a different pill. A different dose may alleviate the symptoms you are experiencing.

There are a lot of positive reviews on Aviane (generic version of Alesse) and the dosage is quite low so it doesn't come with the typical unwanted side effects that you mentioned.

^^ I had good results on this, as well. Would still be on it, if I had a choice.
^^ What she said!! Getting other people's input is a great idea, but ultimately, you may have to figure out what's best for you through trial and error. Getting the Depo shot terrified me, because of the listed possible side effects. I've had none of them. Someone else, however, could have all of them! There's really no way to know - for the most part - how a certain BC will affect the person who's taking it.
I really hope you find something that works well for you!!My Journal - Large, But Not in Charge: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=128025573

I think it has to do with the permanence, maybe? My mom had her tubes tied after her 3rd (my oldest little brother). I don't know if I could do it. And even those are not always 100%...I know a couple of men who had vasectomies and ended up with that surprise. Kids ended up looking just like their fathers, so it wasn't infidelity.

Was on Yasmin for a good while until dem der side effects started to rear their ugly heads; to the point where it was horrific mood swings (not good considering I was in the armed forces at the time!), bloating, generally feeling utterly **** for days on end and just felt like it wasn't really doing what it was meant to be doing. As someone else mentioned I wanted a total break from hormones and something that I could pretty much not have to stress about remembering to take etc, so after some research I got the non-hormonal IUD. Be advised though if you haven't had children, the actual procedure of having it fitted hurts like a mother fuarker; seriously I've had 4 hour long tattoo sessions, broken bones, car collisions and all sorts of crap that didn't come close to what it was like on the pain threshold, admittedly I didn't take any painkillers beforehand but serious, pepper thy angus if you go down this route. Saying that, I've had it for three years now and had zero problems, periods are slightly heavier but that's it, no bloating, weight gain or any other discomfort.

Mercillion is fine, no side affects that i noticed. Came off it now, as i don't see the point in taking bc when i'm not having regular sex. But when i want to get one f those boyfriend types again, i'll go back on it. Better to be safe then sorry, and double protection- pop a pill and have him wrap himself. no glove no love.

I chose to stop hormonal bc (tried pills, the shot, etc.) over the years, some with adverse effects, some not. (I loved the shot, btw. Regulated my emotions/moodswings, and had no other side effects I knew of at the time.)
A couple other women have mentioned the (copper) no-hormone IUD. I would definitely advise women who want to avoid hormonal birth control to consider the IUD over the pull-out (really? REALLY? Know what you call people who use that method? PARENTS!) or condoms alone.
There can be downsides, and some doctors prefer not to even offer them to women who have not previously had a child, but if you press (as I did) you CAN get this device.
Prior to getting it, I do suggest you take a strong painkiller and take the rest of the day off. It can cause mild to severe discomfort and cramping upon insertion. There are other side effects, like a long period of adjustment which includes cramps and bleeding, but AFTER all that, you're set with a bc method that doesn't require tending to, and doesn't mess with your hormonal balances.
If anyone has any questions about my personal experience with the IUD, I'm happy to share in more detail in a less public message. You get out of life what you put into it. -R.J.Sr.

Was on Depo for two years and went off because I read studies that stated the bone loss is not reversable and is worse for older women (25 and up). Also turned out to be lactose intolerant. Was supposed to have my last shot in March... this month I've had weirdness with my body... sore breasts (freaked out I could be preggars even though no period yet) phantom period cramps.. and I'm pretty moody.
I was on the nuvaring for a while... was a b*tch at first to figure out how to compress it and get it up there... also had to take it out for sex because we both could feel it and it was akward.. often forgot to put it back in.. grew tired of putting stuff up my vajjj all the time. LOL!
I don't see how lying about birth control would benefit a woman... she'd be the one getting pregnant... getting fat... and then having a baby to take care of. But there's really no way for a man to know if she is or not... if you're scared about it ask your female partners to see their birth control.. if they make an issue of it don't have sex with them and/or wear a condom (one that you bought, LOL).
