I get the question once a week, "what do you do for your abs?"

    Answer: I don't eat sugar.
What what works for me, works me. It may or may not work for you.

I've been shot, stabbed, blown-up, then shot at and blown-up again. I credit my survival to God, randomness and an interesting workout program.

No they dont at all, they mostly work your upper abs. Your better off focusing on reverse crunches, leg raises and working on the swissball (works on overall core conditioning).

Yeah TopGun thanks for the posting. Your article reinforces my current plan.

Game plan since the first of the year, lose BF & develop ABS

1 1800-2000 calories, includes 180 grams of protien per day (need to adjust Carbs for 40-40-20)
2 3 days of lifting, 2 days of cardio.
3 focusing on core exercises. (looking to add kettlebell)

When you guys say no sugar, does that mean that if im cosuming large amounts of fruit daily (3 - 4 servings of whatever fruit there is) would that cause an issue? I'm pretty sure fruits are high in natural sugars :s

    This.

    P.S.
Recovery time for abs not relatively short by any means, especially if you use compound exercises in your workout plan.

Hanging leg raises isometrically contract the abs at best. You did not mention that the abdominals primary purpose is to flex the spine. Unless the spine is flexed then those lower ab exercises are near worthless.

You should understand the anatomy of them before posting an article. Biceps flex the elbow, so you perform elbow flexion exercises to work them, not forearm exercises. Abs flex the spine, so you do exercises that flex the spine. The same goes for when people attempt sit-ups and lift their bodies up without flexing their spine. A small crunch movement works the abs much more. EMG recordings show that during these hip flexion movements, there is very low abdominal involvment.
I agree... just because you feel it there slightly does not mean it's the focal point, and sometimes is nothing more than strain to a certain area, which develops problems more than results. Hanging leg raises are great... I'm almost a good enough size to do them... If I tried now, about half way through I'd be doubling the weight on my thighs if you know what I mean, LOL.

I would assume natural sugars would be ok. I think he means cut out like white sugar that people add to almost everything(coffee, cereal, tea)

Your diet is more important than the training it self. You need a good amount of protein which is the building blocks of your body. 1g-1.5g protein per pound of bodyweight is a good amount to aim for.
WRONG! Diet is very important but IT IS NOT MORE IMPORTANT. You cannot build muscle without training, If you have perfect nutrition you're not guaranteed muscle. Look at your local prison, their nutrition is terrible, they have very little protein and very little nutrients, their diet consists of; processed meat, powder potato, white bread which is empty calories and some water. That's pretty much all they eat and they are BIG, really BIG. I've heard it all before, they're genetically gifted, well if nature/god/evolution gave them such perfect genetics why do they lack intelligence? If they had such perfect genetics they wouldn't be in prison.

^This. Start by hitting the gym first with a solid diet.
