They are fun to watch though. I wish I could find footage of the entire C & J. All I can find is Yuan, Ozkan, and Taylan. Here is Taylan's WR Clean & Jerk.

Also, does anyone else think it's just a matter of time before the Chinese girl, Tian Yuan, completely dominates this weight class? What is she, like 16 or 17?

Yes it's weird. Also Ilya Ilin was lifting big numbers only month before the worlds in Kazakhs championships and his name isn't on the entry list. What a shame.
Yesterday evening another Kazakstanian, Maya Maneza, made a new clean and jerk world record look ridiculously easy. She's going to best that mark in the Asian games again.
Isn't Enver Turkileri who used to train the Bulgarians and jumped with Mutlu to Turkey training now the Kazahkstanians? What ever they're doing, it seems to be working.

Yah, Tian Yuan sorta looks like a slightly feminine version of Suley. Did you hear her speak? Her voice is pretty low.
However, there are no points subtracted for gender anonymity.
Now if you want to talk about who I'm rooting for in the 48 class, of course it's Karpinska. : ) We even have the same shoes now. Surely that's like, ya know, a sign that she likes me or something.

Liao Hui sets a new 69kg world record in the c+j (198kg) and total (358kg). He finished it off with a back flip and a double fist pump. Didn't get the snatch gold though, Binay and he both snatched 160kg but Binay was slightly lighter.
Dabaya failed all three snatches and c+js, I don't know what's wrong with him. He failed all three c+j last year as well iirc.

im glad he got the total world record. boevski was one of my favorite too but o well. im supprised that he didnt hit the 200kg mark. i know Angel Guencev was caught with steroids but some of the guys back then were hitting 190-195kg mark at 70kg like zlaten vanev and zhan xugang and guencev hit 202.5kg at 67.5 kg. i guess 1kg bodyweight and/or steroids makes a huge difference. what happened to Mikhail GOBEEV and Arakel MIRZOYAN?

wikipedia says he lost by 3kgs, he did 'only' 170/200 whereas martiryosyan did 173/200, he attempted 175 in the snatch but lost it behind he cleaned 206 but missed the jerk, by the video su dajin also had a really bad day with 'only' 160 in the snatch and bombed in the clean&jerk with 198 (he looked really weak, possibly injured, you wouldn't think his pr is 209); looks like lao hui's performance will be china's highlight this year unless lu yong decides to go all out or something because of a certain american's performance on the clean&jerk, really looking forward to the 85's!

Xiaojun got overconfident. He was lighter than Tigran but still asked 175 for his last attempt to make a new world record but he would have only needed 173 to win the discipline. Martiryosyan's 173 was a new European record.
In the clean and jerk the same thing. He was always taking his attempts behind Armenian but he took 208 when he would have needed 203 to take the lead at that time and it finally would have been good for a win. Always secure the victory first, then go for the records...Lu clearly had the power but all the puzzles just didn't fit yesterday.
Tigran's jerks were very unstable. He make the cleans look like nothing but couldn't finish only but one lift. It was the same thing in Sofia earlier this year.
About the 85's: I usually don't have favorites, but this time, it would be great for the weightlifting in general if Kendrick Farris would do well. I guess he's only that good in clean and jerk, but if he does the new world record, I hope it would break the news threshold and weightlifting could get some media time in US.
I'm under impressions that there lies a lot of potential in among North Americans to olympic lifting but it just isn't popular there. All big money professional leagues get all the media attention and nobody cares about the amateur sports where you really can't make it that big.
Shame that he lifts in the B group so it won't be shown in Eurosport coverage.
