Who in the **** would recommend a jap truck to anyone? Son, I am disappoint.
Ford is the toughest, Chevy has a nicer ride from what I've heard, and Dodge is a pretty solid truck though.
I'm going the Dodge 5.9 cummins route.

I've driven Ford Ranger, Ford F-150 xcab, Chevy silverado (350), and F-250 powerstroke crewcab (7.3L).
If you can swing the diesel, it's the best of them all, imo. Plus the aftermarkets are relatively cheap and can have you pushing 400+ horsepower with less than 1 hr in work. I get 18 miles per gallon in a 7000 lb truck, can accelerate impressively (even on steep inclines) and can pull whatever the hell I want to. Not to mention, I won't have to buy a vehicle for another 10 years with reasonable maintenance.>>MMMC<< Top of the bell curve, baby.

I'm a GM guy so that would be my choice ha.
The quadcabs are nice a roomy. If ya got it with the 5.3l it has plenty of power but REALLY wakes up with a simple tune as gm kills tons of power with the craptastic tune they come stock with.
They also fair pretty good on gas mileage so thats not an issue, just depends on what ya really want in the end.I rep back 300+

Haha what? First of all its 5 more than you have, second of all its 3 years more experience than you have. Regardless, I now make 3 times what I made doing bull**** warranty work and new car PDI's. I once spent 2 days working drivability on a brand new suv throwing lean codes. I tested everything twice, scoured the engine bay with a stethoscope, compression tests, fuel pressure, etc. I swapped out every sensor and even replced the intake gasket. Went through three techline tech engineers until finally a guy had seen the problem before. Did a couple tests on a fuel sample, which I had already done but not as in depth. Turns out the dumb bitch put 4 gallons of e-85 in the tank. You know how much I got paid? ****. Nada. Zero. Technically it wasn't a warranty claim anymore because she caused the problem but I had like 21 hours into it and there was no way she was paying that labor bill when nothing was really wrong. Service manager tryed to make it right by giving me 5 hours but fuk that.
Have fun trying to make a living on piece rate.

Ya if your gonna tow a diesel would get the job done with ease. Just gotta find the one you want for the price you want.
If you ended up goin with a gas motor and did go GM make sure you went with the 5.3l not the 4.8l as it has good hp but is lacking alot of torque compared to the 5.3l.I rep back 300+

im a ford guy so i say go that route. f150s are usually heavier and have less horsepower then others, but they are reliable, have very good torque in the 5.4v8 and will out-tow any 1/2 ton truck. theres a reason they are the number 1 selling truck for longer then i have been alive.
whatever you do don't get a tundra-

had a bunch more from tundra solutions (the whole truck is a problem apparantly) but the links are all dead.
heres another one

Ya, what do you do now? Service write? lol
Hahaha I haven't even started yet. Hahaha the only test period coming up is July 10th. You got '5 years on me' doesn't mean anything really. You not starting at the basics of drive ability is just... well sad. Something wrong with drive ability (unless it is blatantly obvious) should start at the gas tank and work forward. So many idiots out there don't know what they are doing to cars is amazing. How did you miss the e-85 if you did it before all of that!?!?!?!?!?
How could you possibly put in new sensors that should have been blatantly obvious working when you used the scope for testing. You should have seen the sensors not having any problems besides reading lean... a blown gasket on a new car? lol
Your fault for taking 21 hours.
Also maybe you should have been nicer/less bitchy or made better friends with the service writers so they didn't give you **** work. PDI is cake anyways.Biden 2020

My pops has a '95 cummins work truck. For what it lacks in looks/comfort, that engine makes up for it 10 fold. At 15 years old, I wouldn't hesitate to drive it cross country if needed.
BTW, OP. If you can find a decent used diesel that hasn't been totally abused (the only problem with buying used diesels), right now is a great time to buy. You could easily find one for what you want to pay and own it outright. You would probably even have enough money left over to throw on a bullydog or Edge system and a heavy duty torque converter in the tranny. From what I know, the tranny's take the brunt of abuse in these trucks that are used for pullin/workin. If the oil hasn't been run dry in the engine, just replace the tranny and your gold for another 100-200k miles. Early 2000 year Ford Crew Cabs would be something worth lookin into for ya. Plus the mods available are pretty extensive and worth the investment. Protect yourself by researchin first though. I looked at some pretty slimy things before buying mine. There are some good forums online that can get you off to a really good start.>>MMMC<< Top of the bell curve, baby.

I'd suggest ford over dodge any day, had bad experience with dodge(moms durango's engine failed after 60k miles or something, and just now AC compressor went out, as well as many other little problems.) Uncle drives a silverado and that thing drives smooth as hell, and is pretty powerful. I'll go with ford though since I drive a ranger.

I know, I'm sure you would've fixed it in 11 minutes bro. I'm sure the first thing you would have done after you pulled the lean codes would be do a quick look over and then say Oh better start at the "basics of driveability", the gas tank. Then you'd pull a sample of the gasoline, if you even know how lol, look at it and say "yup she must of put 4 gallons of e-85 in her 20 gallon gas tank". Problem solved.

Sure would have. If sensors are working properly and reading correctly.
Also dependent on the LTFT and STFT.
Brah I am graduating from UTI, they teach us very well over there. First thing we learned about driveability is to start at the tankFor this reason exactly. People doing dumb **** to their cars.
