Ruth Chris was great 10 yrs ago, now it is on par with Chili's it's overpriced and quality has completely dropped off. Better off going to a local steak house than this run down chain

Rare steak only crew


Never went to Ruth's Chris, never seemed like it would be worth the price. I did eat at a Hall's which is expensive but not in the same stratosphere.

In general if I just want a good steak I go to Texas Roadhouse. If I want better atmosphere or fine dining it's a non chain local place, or a restaurant in a hotel nearby.

Best steaks I've ever had were at Red Osier in Stafford, NY. Evidently they've gone downhill though unfortunately.

Our capital grille has huge shelves full of wine bottles. Not for sale, but the ones that they keep ready for regular clients. I’m sure some of it is offices and whatnot, but some people legit live that life. Wild stuff.

I can't imagine eating out that much, let alone spending $600 on it lol. I eat out once every other week, I cook my own food most of the time. Granted if I had a GF/wife it would probably be once a week. That's more of a health thing though plus I actually enjoy cooking. There are cheap restaurants with decent food that I could eat out more if I wanted to.

I'm not a wine drinker, so I just get mixed drinks. Most I'd have would probably be 2 double bourbon and ginger ale. If my GF wanted wine she could get it but definitely wouldn't be buying a whole bottle (unless she's a lush, and then we would have other issues lol).

I can remember going there for the first time on a trip to Toronto many years ago. Jumbo lump crab cakes, steak with gratin, and a bread pudding with a whisky cream sauce. It was really good - a colleague from Hong Kong recommended it.

Last time I went was more recent, and I felt the quality had gone down a lot. Just like what you mention in the OP, red - the steaks were overcooked. Luckily NYC has quite a few good steakhouses.

It was all about experiences, we were both fortunate enough to be in very well paying careers with investment income as well as work income.

We both still are, but my career took me 2000km away to start up a segment of my business in a new market and four days later her job took her over 600km away from where we were living.

Still smash when we get the chance to have one fly to the other and remain on excellent terms but fuk long distance relationships.
