As long as they stick to no micro transactions on single player I don't really care. As far as multiplayer, it really depends on exactly what they're monetizing as to whether or not I'll care.

They went from 'No microtransactions' to 'just multiplayer microtransactions', it does leave a bad impression. And I will never say 'as long as it's just...' when it comes to monetization in any game.

Once they add a little, it tends to snowball; remember when Bethesda said they would do only cosmetics in FO76? Then they got money hungry. Greed can destroy a game, not that FO76 was good, but who knows, maybe CDPR is starting to see the potential gain with some additional monetization.

I would rather they charge a monthly sub to cover the costs of multiplayer updates and servers.

CDPR doing all they can to make sure sexy time scenes are as realistic as possible.

the team has done "a lot of mocap (motion capture)" for sex scenes, which suggests, well, realistic looking sex scenes. CD Projekt Red didn't disclose many more details on this part of the game, but it sounds like it's putting just as much focus into these scenes as any other scene in the game, which is sure to please some fans.

It's honestly one of the most hyped video games ever, and probably the #1 for an original title. Don't think anything in recent memory matches. Even highly anticipated franchise titles like the latest Pokemon, Zelda: BotW, RDR2... didn't have this type of day-to-day, mass-scale microscopic dissection of every ****ing thing. Maybe the faithful are particularly stirred because it's an original title that's so far shown that the game will be a "everything you like except better, plus Keanu Reeves", so the lack of reference points other than CDPR's reputation drives this hype train unlike any other.

They are victims of their own success with The Witcher series; they kept getting better and better and Witcher 3 is most people's GOAT. The bar is so high they are under a microscope with every move they make.

Could not pass, wasn't planning to upgrade yet but it was a great deal. $2430 after tax (CA sucks). Got an ASUS Predator 27" for $380 too to go with it. Just need a keyboard now and I will be set; also looking to add a SSD I guess.

I went with Steelseries for my keyboard/mouse and wireless headphones. The Arctis Pro's sound pretty great for gaming. But you can also connect to a 2nd device via bluetooth simultaneously, like your phone, to play your own music, listen to a podcast and take a phone call without having to set it down. Pretty sick.

Have the Arctis already, and a Logitech g600 so covered on those. Should be some decent sales here tomorrow and Monday on keyboards.

Hopefully they see how much people don't want MTX, if they sell the MP as a separate thing, like a DLC, then I wouldn't be against that, or a monthly sub, but any money for in game items will be a hard pass from me.

Money for in game times doesn't bother me at all if it's feasible to actually get them by just playing the game. If you're lazy or impatient and want to pay, go for it. I'm fine with that as long as I can still get the same items by just playing (and not a fuking grind fest). Micro transactions for items that they know you'll have no choice but to buy because you won't want to grind for them for hours and hours and hours - that will piss me off.

Any MTX gets to me, I have yet to see (not personally) any game handle them in a non-scummy way. Either they make the grind so mind numbing it's not realistic, items are pay walled, bought items give massive advantage, ect.

I like CDPR, but I also liked Bethesda and Rockstar; I still like both but am very hesitant on future games. Rockstar still has the single player that is MTX free, but they bastardized the MP so much it's ridiculous, a legit in game casino, fck out of here with that. Ubisoft too, with Farcry and Assassin's Creed... all devs who start small with MTX end up going all in.

My biggest concern is they add some MTX, something small that we don't mind, they then see the money it brings and it all goes down hill from there.

Wow. Someone broke down/analyzed the 1 hour long gameplay demo that was shown to a few. You can scroll through the video for what the guy actually wrote instead of listening to the video, if you like. But it sounds absolutely amazing. The hype is real. The guy reviewing different elements was pretty objective about a few things, so this wasn't just a nuthug.

I noticed a lot of articles were intentionally misrepresenting that story (obviously for the clicks) when it was pretty obvious from the actual quotes that they were not throwing around possibilities like, "how should we grift our players? The EA way, the Ubisoft way, or the Acti-Blizz way?" Instead, they were trying to draw a comparison to how people felt their single player expansions held value, but translated into the multiplayer front. If even CDPR is trying to work out the multiplayer component, then I can imagine a huge part of that is ensuring that they aren't charging for the same kind of forgettable BS packed in every other MP game these days.

It was a while ago when I watched the Upper Echelon video on the subject, but I think he had the direct audio, although it's a good listen either way.

He touched on something that immediately came to my mind as well: CDPR is not a big company like EA, Ubisoft, or Acti-Blizz who can risk throwing away their reputation on what is obviously a huge gamble, i.e. their first major multiplayer foray.

Not only can the aforementioned companies rely on at least enough lemmings to rush out and throw money at them, they are large enough to dedicate resources to their Games As A Service models. An ongoing stream of content is (strangely) the only carrot that allows people to justify having a stick up their ass loot boxes and paid cosmetics, but CDPR simply is not big enough to pour their time and energy into both GAAS and work on new content or new games without a potentially damaging compromise.

CDPR seems like one of the few companies with enough sense to understand how badly aggressive monetization has been received by people who aren't 12 year olds (or have the restraint as one), but what stood out to me was their emphasis on delivering story content over standard multiplayer/GAAS.

I'm not a multiplayer person whatsoever, but it will be interesting to see their approach regardless.

If they plan on incorporating storylines into the multiplayer "missions" or any kind of bulky content akin to the Witcher DLCs (but MP), then of course it would make sense to simply charge for them like you would a separate expansion.

Multiplayer content has had a turbulent history, beginning when developers/publishers were getting greedy for charging far too much for the small proportion of content in a map pack compared to the base content at $60. Had they charged maybe five dollars instead of fifteen, people might not have pushed back against paying a quarter of the price for the whole game for less than a handful of new maps that they might not even like.

That is not to say there wasn't any fault to the gamers, falling back on the excuse that map packs will split the community when numerous multiplayer and co-op games have managed to work around the usual issues through measures such as allowing friends to play with others who own the content to try it out (or plain not overcharging).

Now, though, there is this strange attitude that I can only describe as gamer entitlement gymnastics in which having entire sections of their games - which they are still paying full price for - completely gutted to be re-sold to them in what I would argue are even more egregious cost/content ratios, with that fifteen dollar figure now only getting a stupid cosmetic that normally could have been unlocked through playing the game.

No, that is somehow okay - being charged upwards of $10 for a skin or being corralled into a gambling, loot box rabbit hole - but there is "no way" we can go back to just paying for the damn content we actually want one time.

If CDPR can pull it off, maybe we can show these morons the light: Good games and good multiplayer do not need loot boxes, paid skins, or all of this monetization bullsh*t to be successful, and multi-billion dollar companies like Acti-Blizz don't need pity parties.

I'd love to see what games they're actually hyped about then, because everything shown off about Cyberpunk has been impeccable.

2020 might have a lot of good looking games, but I've yet to see anything matching the caliber of Cyberpunk, let anything that has such a distinct lack of caveats hovering of it (e.g. FF7 Remake looks awesome, but it's also episodic).

Well, CP2077 has probably been the most hyped game in recent history. Haters can't help but try to find something to **** talk about it. We'll find out soon enough. At this point, it's all on CDPR to either kill it or really drop the ball. They can't say anything has been rushed. By release, this game will have been nearly 9 years in the making. AAA studios have done big games in half that amount of time. If CDPR doesn't fuk up, this can be a fking masterpiece from day 1. I can't wait to just be in Night City, living my best 80's Cyberpunk life brah. Such neon lights, much corruption, wow.
