I will update my log some time this week
It's been a tough week.
Quickly, I have been seeing a girl in Cincy. Yes, she's a lifter, both PL and Oly. This has been growing. etc so I won't bore you with the details. That said, she came down to spend some time and train and alwasy has her dogs. She was one that is older and has been in a state od slight decline since I've known her. Well, a few days prior to them coming, the older girl coughed up blood, was seen and diagnosed with Kennel cough. I didn't see how but, I'm not a vet. Well, they get here and clearly, the dog is laboring. Short version, my daughter in law is a vet and my son has teched at the clinic they met at. I had her seen and immediately they found a stomach mass and did X-rays. In quite possibly one of the saddst things I've been part of, the old girl will be put down. She is declining quickly and I wasn't sure she'd make it through the night. My daughter in law and son are coming by shortly and we will do it here. This is her first trip here and for Maudie, it will be her last. So, if you pray, please do and if you don't send some positive thoughts this way. I will catch everyone up that I coach but, I need the rest of the day to deal with this.

Here are the injuries...there were two leading in to the meet.
My right knee...that is an injury that started in 2005. I hurt it unloading all the plates when i ran the WPA worlds. I basically cleaned out my gym, ran the meet and then unloaded and set it up and loaded the plates. I twisted the knee and it simply has been something on going since. Here and there, I've tweaked it. The last time was about 4 weeks out from the meet i totaled 2,400. I did it on th edecline. I decided I'd arch really hard and handle some bigger weight and was standing there and could feel it burn. I guess I torqued a bit too hard. I made it through squats that day but, my knees were just so fatigued and I wore braces during the bench befcuase I used so much arch. My 2nd deadlift that day, I hyper extended my right knee and that's when it became an issue. After the meet, I didn't front squat or decline for about 6 months.
About 6 weeks ago, I was at the sweat shop in Cincy and pulled with the guys against doubled mini's. I injured my right glute and hip. It's still not 100% but, I got through the meet.
During the meet, I had to change my set up on squat. I usually squat with the racks in and because of the design of the monolift, I had to have them out and brought my hands in and on the 2nd squat, tweaked the shoulder.
No special rehab to be honest. What I've done is started working all 3 heads on the shoulder with high reps and light weight. It is getting better but, I'm also training for Oly and SM so, I'm just taking a beating right now.Squat: 1,040

Just a quick update as I have had messages, etc from some of you.
That was quite possibly the saddest thing I've ever had to be a part of.
Maudie was the old girl's name. She was a very sweet Lab mix that was rescued with a few issues that she learned to live with. Even at her illest, she'd wag her tail and want me to scrub her fanny. She greeted the Dr and tech with wags and we all 4 loved on her and spent some time with her. It went quick. Once she was gone, I sent her Mom in and the 3 of us took it from there and I cradled her like I did my infant son and walked her to the drive way and gently laid her in the truck. It was beautifully and professionally done. Maudie passed no longer in so much pain and discomfort and did so with dignity. In my short time with her, I had grown quite attached. She was a really special girl. My heart breaks for Melissa. She left today with only one of the 2 girls she came down with. That was not something either of us expected or saw coming. She trained and did so with a smile but, I could see it in her eyes and when she had to go back today, it was brutal.
I am ok. I have had so many animals and so many rescues and have seen alot of this. It is very hard to watch someone lose someone they love so dearly. I have a pretty big lump in my throat even now and feel drained. I can only imagine how she feels.
So, that all said, back to business and I'll be working on sessoins this evening. If I have missed anything for any of my lifters, please send me a reminder. I'll have my laptop with me this weekend as well and will work from Cicny so, fire away.
Thanks for indulging me and please, continued prayersSquat: 1,040

Just saw all of this, so I'm late in responding. That truly is heart breaking. We've gone through that and it's never easy. Amazing what impact and animal can have in your life. Praying for you and your friend.
That said, nice work big man. Injuries suck especially when they happen on things they should never happen on.

wow!I've seen the video and still, wow!
I'm in Cincy for a few more hours. It was good for Abbi and I to here. It seems to have been settling for both Melissa and Bella. This thing with Melissa looks to be escalating so...we will see and, time will tell. harry got to meet her. She's an oly/PL type who used to be a competitive cyclist. She's very unassuming but, right there so to speak. Fell right in with Harry encouraging and helping.
Good to see harry and I'll let him recap the sessoin but, we learned alot...namely, LA Fitness sucks....but that's another story for another time.Squat: 1,040

She had me bring my lap top this time as I usually try not to as our time is so very limited. She's in there cooking while I'm sending out sessions. She asked me, what do you think about the little woman being in the kitchen while you work? I got up, fed the cools and walked them while she slept. last week, along with her work schedule, was beyond brutal. I let her sleep some and then checked on her when the time was getting close for us to get her to the gym. She trained pulls today at the Sweat Shop and did 2 singles with opener weight. It's fun getting to watch and just be supportive. Light coaching. It's what I do so I couldn't help some of it.
her weight was low so, we ran out, got tequila and did a shot and ate pizza.
She is a keeper and it helps that she is way over my head cute.Squat: 1,040
