Unfortunately I think you over-estimate the number of people who care enough about this to change anything that they do, or any money that they spend.

The NFL has never cared about "doing the right thing" or "setting an example" or "maintaining high moral standards" or anything like that. They only care about making money. Period. This is why the billionaire owners f*ck over taxpayers every change they get with public funded stadiums and the like. This is why they only care about players' transgressions when it's either so egregious that it can't be ignored (e.g. murder) or when it's a player that is no longer good to offset the outrage. This is why they are the only major professional sport to have unguaranteed contracts.* This is why they followed the tobacco companies by lying about, obscuring, and trying to hide the concussion risk studies for so many years.
