I'm marking today as my starting day. I'm 5'4 and between 133 and 136 pounds. I'll post starter pics later today but over the next 16 weeks my goals are to develop visible abs, a more defined back and more developed quads, as well as put on 8-10 pounds of lean mass.
Athletically, I'm looking to decrease my 20yd sprint time to under 2.9 seconds (I play softball and 20yd is the distance from home to first base), regularly run four consecutive miles, and to condition myself to play an entire basketball game of full-court defense.

I'm up for the 2010 challenge.

    Im 6 foot 2 inches and 136.3 kg = 299.9 lbs

    A fatass

    Areas to improve :

    - don't eat breakfast.
    - need to get into slow jogging / power walking, it was what helped me during my only fit period.
    - My diet is totally adhoc and unplanned, leading to me eating sugar rich crap.

    Medium Term Goal : 100kg = 22o pounds by July 1st 2010
Short Term Goal : more planned diet, get addicted to regular excercise.

I'll take photos and post in a couple of months if worthwhile.

Glad to see your taking on the challenge. I would not skip breakfast, it's the one that jumpstarts your metabolism for the day. Figure out your calorie needs then split that into 4-6 smaller meals each day. It seems like alot of eating, but it's much better to eat smaller meals spread throughout the day, then eating a couple big meals whenever you can.

When I changed my diet from eating 3 meals (sometimes only 2) per day to eating 5-6 times daily, I lost over 20lbs alone. Mixed in some excercise and now Im starting to build muscle and losing more weight....Good Luck !!

Thanks, unfortunately due to running in crap-tastic shoes for a week I now had a case of shin splints developing. Just got fitted and picked up a good pair of running shoes. I'm taking this week off from running and gonna Swim, Bike & elliptical for my cardio and see how I feel next week. If I'm feeling good, i'm going to start the C25k program from day one.

Also started an EC stack (to help jump-start the fat loss), so we'll see what the next week holds.

    stats

Hey guys. I'm at 239 today after the holidays and my body fat is 14.8%. Hard to believe a year ago after the holidays I was 60lbs heavier! Nice to "feel fat" at 239 rather than 295. What a change a year can make. Still have a hint of abs, but they are hiding a little bit after eating some junk. Should start to come out now that I'm back on my regular food and routine. It won't be long now! Good luck everybody and keep after it.

up loaded my pictures, they are on my profile page. I was doing so good until Friday night. Saturday was OK, Sunday could have been better, but no junk on pot roast. Was right on today. Decent thigh work out. I really hate the camera. I did not take measurments.

Well, today was my new start date. Eating was right on. Got in a good chest, delts, and tri workout in today. Little bit of cardio afterward. Taking my two boys in to do their weight workout in a bit. Will do some moderate cardio while they do that.

Glad to see some more people get started. Good luck to everyone. Let's do this and achieve any thing we set a goal for!

My mistake, I didn't express myself well, I mean't that I currently don't eat breakfast, but I will start.

Thanks for the advice. Calorie counting seems a little intimidating to me at the moment, I mean meals that contain many things must be hard to assess. But I will start thinking about calories.

    Cheers

I'm in! I started my 12 week plan on Dec 28; I'm hoping to lose 20 pounds in that time and continue on after that.

    Age: 33
    Height 5'9"
Weight (I'm not sure. The scale says I'm 253 but honestly I think I'
m twenty to thirty pounds more than that. If I put a '30lb' dumbbell on the scale it reads back '26.5'lb. So I dunno)

    Update

Well we are now 5 days in, and disappointed to say made myself too busy to get into the gym for a workout yet.

Good bits, manage to get in some cardio on every day, and keeping the diet under control. Must be working cos I'm craving everything I should'nt eat.

Must get into the gym ASAP, as without it I'm failing before I begin.

Good to see so many getting involved, and best of luck to all.

Good bits, manage to get in some cardio on every day, and keeping the diet under control. Must be working cos I'm craving everything I should'nt eat.

Must get into the gym ASAP, as without it I'm failing before I begin.

Good to see so many getting involved, and best of luck to all.

Diet is the hardest part. Get that down, and you are ahead of the game. The cravings will go away.

Don't say, " I can't have that food." Instead say, 'I won't have that food, but I will have this food."

Works for me during those "times."

Know where you are coming from, just haven't felt the cravings in a while, but thanks for the reminder. For me the diet is the hardest part of the equation. Supress it long enough and things start to fall into place

Yesterday was a great workout. I am trying a more or less cardio weight training deal. No more then 15 to 30 seconds inbetween each set and no more the 2 mintues in between each excersice. To say the least I am a hurtin puppy right now but I love the feeling of hard work. Today will consits of Chest and Legs and 30 mintue cardio session.

Quick question! What is the difference between a squat and a sumo squat?

My understanding is a squat is with the feet roughly Shoulder width apart and Sumo Squat is with them out wider, like a sumo wrestlers

awsome day diet right on. My almost 15 y/o son joined the gym and I now have a new partner. Not a pro bodybuilder partner to guide me, but some one to motivate me, spot me and keep the rest between sets down. My diet and exercise plan from Scivation should be in later this week. pretty excited about it. Anyone else look into this. It is Free and pretty good. I highly recommend it.

That's great you are getting the cardio in. Now you gotta not let excuses keep you outta the gym. Not trying to be mean, but you know I speak the truth there. I know all about making excuses. I used to do it myself.

It is a wider than shoulder stance with toes pointed out. Deadlifts can also be done in a sumo style.

Sounds great! Nice to get the kids involved with you. I like working out with my two boys as well. My soon to be 12 year old daughter will be joining Friday as well. Difference is I can only do weekends with them. I take them at night to do weights, but that is my cardio time. I go in earlier to get my weights done. I could change it, but I like it the way it is. From time to time I switch it anyway

Hope the diet works out for you.

I been working out and eating better the past few days. Muscles hurt since they aint used to doing anything lol

Only bad part is I have been sick since Saturday and its making it very hard. I felt good yesterday, but today it feels like I may be getting a cold. Haven't done anything today exercise wise, but I'm at least eating better. I hope I dont fall behind too much.
