Girl I’m dating came over yesterday. She came back from vacation out of state visiting family, so was technically in quarantine. She’s getting tested next week, so if she’s +, then I am now.
Worth the risk for me personally to have the company on Christmas Day, since I couldn’t go to my family this year. I called them though.
Even if I’m infected, I’m essentially quarantined anyway since I live alone.

I’m worried for our hospitals that are overwhelmed with little to no ICU space and the nurses and doctor’s. They were practically begging people to please stay home and so many just ignored the guidelines and had gatherings and traveled.
Like people don’t realize their own behavior is contributing to the need for more restrictions, etc. because they can’t just do what is being asked and follow the most basic precautions.
Cali is especially struggling:

But did you get some of the Xmas gush?
I agree. Traveling at this point is very disrespectful to healthcare workers. I know many are removed from this and just choose to ignore it but I work in healthcare and see and hear it constantly besides what is on the news. I feel for them. At this point I am following certain Covid best practices more for other and society as a whole than I am for myself for sure.

I wouldn't say I'm introverted per se, but more-so than the average person, thus limited social time is fine with me. Especially with large crowds. I did miss being with my immediate family this year though. Social exposure for me is a balance or getting just the right amount, but not too much.
On a more general note, I think you're right. People tend to complain about having too many social events etc., but at the same time keep signing up and going (?!). I've been told that once you get married etc., you can expect more of it (i.e. going to social events/gathering when you'd rather stay home). So are these people genuinely afraid to turn down events, or are they secretly happy to have them.
That said, I think the same people complaining would be lonely and depressed if they didn't have the family and gatherings.𝕮𝖍𝖆𝖘𝖊 𝖆 𝖈𝖍𝖊𝖈𝕶, 𝖓𝖊𝖛𝖊𝖗 𝖈𝖍𝖆𝖘𝖊 𝖆 𝖇𝖎𝖙𝖈𝖍

2021 in new york is going to be alot tougher if the politicians manage to pass assembly bill 416. it will allow the authorities to forcibly take you from your home and detain you until a doctor deems you safe because you could potentially be a risk for any infectious disease.

Everyone is different in this regard from my experience. I know people who literally thrive on being social, being around people, and can't comprehend people who don't look forward to something like a wedding. I was actually just having this conversation with a buddy of mine, when another friend told him he is weird for not wanting to go to a wedding. I am on the less social side of the spectrum and have become more that way with age. I enjoy doing things with people but don't want it to be constant, prefer smaller groups, etc. Was one issue I had with my first serious GF I lived with, she had a social agenda every single weekend, and I just love to have the majority of that time to myself to decompress. Then again, in non Covid times my job is very social, so that could play a role.

And there’s plenty who won’t wear a mask and socially distance and even try to get people who are following precautions to stop. I actually have a relative who lives in Florida and her landscaper started screaming at her when he was doing her lawn that COVID is a hoax and she better be going out and not wearing a mask. She’s elderly mind you.
So many people have proven to be selfish entitled asses who bitch and whine about the most basic precautions just because they don’t want to be inconvenienced.
I get so angry when I see and hear about nurses begging people to please stay home when possible and wear a mask and socially distance because ICU’s are maxed out and people are basically laughing at them calling them liars.
I have little to no respect for anyone who mocks the virus or thinks it’s a hoax.Last edited by health4life24; 01-04-2021 at 10:28 AM.

I mean...if nobody is near you and you’re outside I think it’s okay to not wear a mask. I wear mine outside when there is the chance I’m going to be near others. But if nobody is around me, don’t really need it or pull it down until you’re near someone.
I think many people are just frustrated because of the amount of people not taking precautions and just prolonging this whole thing. If someone sees you not wearing a mask even if there’s nobody around you maybe they wonder if you’re one of those against masks (even though you aren’t). People have lost loved ones, they’re scared. Understandable.
This should be a common sense thing, but unfortunately there’s people that go to the extreme on both ends of the spectrum.
Wear a mask and socially distance when people are around, simple.
Although I will say, better to be overly-cautious in my opinion than be ignorant.- Your mindset influences your outcome. I know. It's very sad, that we're even divided like this as a country.
Do you run on nature/hiking trails? I do this, and not many people there, as opposed to crowded sidewalks, or if you're in a gym and using the treadmill. I guess that would make sense to wear a mask, then.
Common sense has gone away, it seems.

I think about this time last year when we were all living our lives and doing our thing, and then I think where we are now, and sometimes it feels surreal. And I don’t mean just the Pandemic, all of the crap going on right now. Like, I wonder where the heck did the year go? How did we get here?

Understandable, but some people are overly fearful imo. Wearing a mask running outside is overkill IMO, but each to their own.
If they judge me, it's their problem, not mine. They shouldn't assign me a category, it's their flaw.

It's better to be overly-cautious than ignorant, sure. But that's a false dichotomy. It's even better to be nuanced and balance risk appropriately.
Unless I'm running through crowds of people outside, I think mask is overkill.
If someone is in a situation where they want a near 0% chance of catching covid, they should wear an N95 or stay home. Every individual's situation and risk tolerance is different.𝕮𝖍𝖆𝖘𝖊 𝖆 𝖈𝖍𝖊𝖈𝕶, 𝖓𝖊𝖛𝖊𝖗 𝖈𝖍𝖆𝖘𝖊 𝖆 𝖇𝖎𝖙𝖈𝖍

I agree, it would be near impossible to not feel absolutely smothered wearing a mask, while running.

According to cointracking I am back in the green by a few grand. My average in on BTC is 8k too, alt coins rekt me, hopefully some rebound now with the market heating up again. I'd like to double what I put in then I'd pull my initial investment back out. Honestly thought breaking even was a pie in the sky and forgot about crypto.

That wasn't financial advice. LoL
Every single alt is the same story though looking at my profile. I haven't followed anything so I could be wrong and definitely don't know any specifics about certain coins like ICX but if I am going to remain optimistic I believe legit Alts like Neo, ICX, XLM, etc will be the ones that see the most from a market where people are looking to spread their new found BTC gains into alts for more of a gamble. That makes sense to me and that's how it worked last time through this anyway.
What is the screen grab from? I might take some time to look at my overall crypto portfolio and evaluate consolidating some of these alts.
