Anyone have the machined rogue plates? I'm wondering how the finish is on them.
I know the finish on the PL plates sucks and chips off easy so that's my concern and I'm curious if they use the same paint process or it's something different.

To be fair, the paint on any calibrated PL plate chips regardless of the brand. I've seen Eleiko and Ivanko just as chipped as Rogue. The only I brand I can't speak to is the Vulcan plates, but I have a buddy who just bought 400kg or so of the Vulcans so I'm curious how they will whether by comparison.

the difference is those chipped eleiko and ivanko plates are probably at least 10 years old where rogues get like that in a year or two.
I have an IG friend who lifts at an australian gym decked out in eleiko plates and in every vid from that gym the plates look almost new and they are at least two years old with daily gym use. the gym I go to that has rogue plates that are 2 years old look beat to hell in comparison.

If you wanna pay Eleiko money then go for it. They've been the highest quality equipment company I've bought from (I've never had their calibrated plates, but bars & kettlebells). But for the money and the accurate calibration, the Rogue's are still pretty dang appealing. A little paint wear won't hurt ya.

New monster storage pins and rock climbing crossmember are out. New storage pins are the same price as the old ones, have a larger OD and use "ultra wear-resistant thermoplastic material Delrin to form a protective exterior sheath that delivers a sleeker, more uniform appearance than standard UHMW plastic." They're finished in black zinc.

Those storage pins look spiffy. I'm surprised they went through all the trouble of a fancy re-design and didn't include some sort of rubber bumper, but whatever. They look nice.. a much better design than the old ones. I may buy some if I ever have money burning a hole in my pocket.

I wouldnt mind betting titan will have a comparable version of this within a couple of months so I'm inclined to wait for that and see where its priced before deciding to pull the trigger on a rack mounted one.
Itd be ideal if they managed to do what mech6 did with his belt squat he made, where he put in a sorinex style back attack attachment!

what the hell is the point of this?
https://www.roguefitness.com/rogue-m...3-rack-package
you would have to squat outside the rack with the barbell to setup and unrack properly so you're paying $1000 extra over the standalone for a full cage that is useless435/259/551 S/B/D @ 197

Side note! Got to handle my first Rogue barbells today, albeit heavily used, but it was nice to finally get a look at the Westside 2.0 and the Rogue DL bar. First impression of the Westside bar was that the knurling was 'meh', was expecting super clean and aggressive and it was about on par with the cheaper TPB. What interested me the most was the DL bar, not quite as aggressive as my Buddy Capps which would be VERY much welcomed. Might have to consider a boneyard in the future

The original Westside bar was probably the most aggressive bar I've handled...total cheese grater! I'm fairly certain that the Westside 2.0 is the same knurl as the OPB just with all black zinc finish which turns out pretty sloppy looking on the sleeves over time. To me, the black zinc tames down the knurl compared to the bare steel...gives it a slightly slicker feel and doesn't quite bite in as much.

Yup. V1 very sharp aggressive. V2 = Ohio PB just in all black and a green westside endcap. Very happy I got the v1 made to Lou's spec. V2 = cost savings.

The barbells I used were at an Air Force gym, guessing by the condition they were 3-5 years old because the shaft coating had almost rubbed off completely. It's eye opening for me personally, just a year ago I had envisioned these bars tearing your hands open on contact yet both the TPB and Westside 2.0 feel like normal old bars to me. Now the TDL bar was a different story altogether, maybe mine was a freak of nature but it was beyond excessive for reps. But I could see myself buying a Rogue bar, seems like something you can use on a regular basis and not drip blood all over the house.

I don't find the Ohio PB to be aggressive. It's more of a medium knurl but cut to be gritty and hold really pretty well. I don't like the gritty feel of it myself.

The Westside bar didn't feel gritty to me at all, the TPB feels like sandpaper compared to the Rogue bar I used today. You see that Buddy Capps Instagram video I posted in the barbell thread? I know you have avoided the 28.5mm TPB because it's not 29mm, but Buddy makes that viewpoint seem kinda silly...LOL

He ignores whip and those that hook grip. Otherwise not much difference when benching tree fiddy.
If the bars been used well for 5 years the grit is most likely worn well. Not like it has a Rockwell Hardness dog in heat..... my Ohio PB doesn't feel as gritty as it is used to and it's not heavily used.My Training Journal: http://tinyurl.com/jasons-journal
