Anyone have a uromastyx? Got this guy for my son about a year ago.

Hey Guys -
Need some input..... The last couple of days my beardy has been hiding from his light. He's never done this before. I think I was due to replacement on the UVA/Heal bulb so I got a new bulb last night. My UVB is only a month old so that's ok. I'll see how he's doing today, but I'm concerned. He ate OK, and was active when I got the bugs out, but otherwise lethargic. Assuming the lack of basking has caused him to not absorb his food well.
Also, the enclosure I made him is 4 x 2 x 2, and I'm using a 150W bulb. Do you think I should upgrade to 250W for an enclosure that size?6'1 - 240lbs

Hey brah
This might or might not be it but, many times when a bearded hides from the light it's cause they're getting too much of it. Feel him next time and see if cold or warm.
Your enclosure IIRC is not screen top right? Yours is much better for keeping humidity and heat in. So for that, you should go lower wattage I'd think.
I used 150 on my 4 x18" x18" but it's screened . if I had an enclosured one you made I think I'd use a weaker w like even as low as a 75W to 100w. The less top ventilation you have, the smaller size bulb you need IIRC.BLM (Brock Lesnar Matters)

Thanks man. I did take him out last night, and he felt normal temp. Definitely not too hot. The top of my enclosure is screened off for ventilation. I felt the temperature inside and I really do not think it felt warm enough. The physical temps outside have gone down here, and we don't have the heat on.
My theory is that I don't have his temp high enough, and he's in "protection mode" due to low energy.
I just ordered a 250W bulb, and a 10" clamp dome to setup and see if it helps him.6'1 - 240lbs

My multiple pairings of cresteds have laid fertile eggs.
My first and single pair of gargoyles have locked several times. The females last clutch were duds. But next one should be fertile.
when they hatch I just sell them online or by local meetup.BLM (Brock Lesnar Matters)

Yeah I'll be trying to. Getting the license needed to ship them. I'll likely make an FB business page and will keep it updated with Available babies as they become available by me. $50-$125 unsexed depending on the morphs I produce. Or do package deals like 8-10 babies for $600.
The ones I'll sell after they are big enough to get sexed is where the best $$$$ will be.BLM (Brock Lesnar Matters)

So my buddy stopped hiding from the light, and has been chilling in the new 150W bulb. Not basking on his usually spot though. My 250W and new dome will be here tomorrow, so hopefully that will get him active again.
His head is up and he's doing his usually looking around and curiosity routine so he seems ok.6'1 - 240lbs

I officially two full reptile rooms, one of these rooms used to be my dining room, which I think I showed. I removed the table and chairs and hutches and made it a room for my reptiles.
Any suggestions for a reptile topic video you guys would watch on youtube?
Room 1: 3 Beardeds, 1 blue tongue skink, 1 uromastyx, and a musk turtle. That is the room I keep the basking animals in. If they need a heat lamp I put them there.
Room 2: 4 ball pythons, 1 corn snake, 1 baby brazilian rainbow boa, several crested gecko breeder pairs and groups, 1 leopard gecko, 1 pacman frog, 1 tiger salamander, and the collection will continue to grow. Oh I forgot I own my sand boas too.
Green tree pythons I have worked with 4 one of which kept it's high yellow into adult hood. I realized, besides they're mean their main purpose in pet trade is to be displayed. Ball pythons curl into a ball and stay there for long periods of time whereas green trees do the same thing...only wrapped around a perch instead of curl up into ball on ground.BLM (Brock Lesnar Matters)

I didn't want to get another BP but I did, because this one was super docile and sweet tempered.
I just want to know if his weight looks healthy.
The store just helped him with his shed.
He's a good eater. feeds on fuzzies but does he look too boney like I should powerfeed him?

WTF guys,
Taylor Nicole Dean is either a very effective troll or she has had a meltdown. Other reptile youtubers like this fat guy, have drama between them and her. Trying to sabotage her youtube channel? I like her knowledge of not only reptiles, but fish tanks as well. It was one of my favorite channels.
Now I stick to LORD ELLION and Reptile Garden because her crested gecko tanks and breeding setups are so fukken beautiful. and practical

Taylor Nicole Dean, i think i passed by one of her vids, not sure these tube gals are always pumping out vids
anyway, after long research, i've decided i will house a leopard gecko here(I just have to change the bulb to a lower watt nocturnal bulb)
It it was a battle between pixie frog, bearded dragon, and leopard gecko, but the gecko won out. One of the reasons is i won't have to upgrade the 20 long tank with the gecko, it can be taken out of the enclosure often, and i like how it looks over the beardie. I like how the pixie looks, but it gets a little big. Beardies are cute tho(dat smile)Centrist, Taoist, Buddhist, Minimalist, Stoic
