Well, I've also been allowing myself to eat some of the wrong things lately - I don't know if it because summer is newly here.. but it has to stop!
I went out with a couple of girls after work (in my case after workout) and I had 2 vodka and tonics, and some cheesy con ceso dip
Ugh! Diet is always the hardest part. The discipline of some of the people here amaze me You disciplined people: send some of that my way!
Tomorrow is another day. There's a whole weekend to eat cleanly and do some cardio!

You've got your finger on the pulse of it: diet is the hardest part, & tomorrow's another day to start fresh. Can't send you any discipline, but here are a few more green lights for under your name.

Penney for gaining strength in pull-ups I prefer doing negatives. Step up on a bench, grab the bar, and step off. Try to lower yourself slowly--over six seconds. Do 3 sets of 5 reps once a week along with your lat pull downs and you'll marked improvement in your strength.
Warning: Your arms will hurt like heck! Well, mine do after these. But boy do the work.
I noticed a lot of your sets involve 12 reps. How long have you been doing 12 reps? I'm just thinking you might want to bump the weight up. To keep making strength gains you need to up the resistance. As soon as you can do 12 reps with an exercise at a given weight increase the resistance. This will build more muscle to burn more calories. I don't know if you're one who worries about gaining too much muscle and looking like a guy but if you are--don't. It won't happen. Lifting alone won't do that to you.You can play the game or live the adventure.
Goals--To be able to do the following exercises:
Front Lever Pull-ups
Planche Push-ups
Muscle Ups
Human Flag

BG,
My discipline is 10x what it used to be, so I know I'm making progress in that area. I know the diet has been tough for you, too. It's hard when delicious food is always around!
Oh, okay. I would love to have one of those.
Someone up the street gave me a really nice stepmill that, when she got it new 10 years ago, was a $1400 machine. It's a Precor! I would have preferred an elliptical machine but this is a very nice suprise

Fun Saturday
For bfast: 2 eggs, some hash browns, 1 slice of bacon and 1 slice of buttered toast. 400 calories.
Later while we were yardsellin' a cheeseburger. 300 caloriese.
700 total so far for the day
Today has been an incredible day. After Rick and I had breakfast we went yard sellin' (there's a large yard sale in our neighborhood today).
Our neighbors 2 houses up had a stepper for sale ... it's a Precor, 10 years old, that was about $1500 new .... the lady who was selling it runs now so she no longer needs it .... she was asking $100 for it and I told her I"d think about it. She went down to $75 and I told her ... I'd think about it.
When Rick and I came back, she said she'd give it to us. Very sweet of her ... I've been wanting a cardio machine for home and this is a gym-quality stepper. Not bad for zilch! Here it's shown in our foyer ... the handles are off to the side.
Then, really this is the first thing that happened ... the house down the street from us had some really nice antiques for sale. One of them was a Hoosier cabinet with a matching pantry. It's in very good condition. Rick has been looking for one of those for a long time. It goes perfectly in the kitchen of our 108 year old house (the furniture was built in 1930). It even had the original sales slip with it!
Finally but certainly not least, after Rick and I dropped the furniture off at the house, we walked back up, and passed a church building that is vacant, and incedentially we used to go there a few years ago. There was this wadded up piece of paper that looked like ... money! Sure enough, it was a bill ... seemingly a $5 bill but then I thought I saw a zero after the 5 and sure enough ... it was a $50 bill! I said "Thank You God!" after a few moments.
I hope no one's offended by this but I believe God provides for us mightily when we know we're provided for
The free stepper topped the day off nicely. Our neighbor decided to give it to us when we returned.
Have a nice day everyone!

Penney,
Few people receive these kinds of blessings who haven't blessed others first. Your progress pics are great and I know how excited you must be.

Awwww thank you Ed! This site, and the people on it, are a blessing!
1 cup of oatmeal for meal #3. 300 calories. Total so far - 1000 even.
I may try to up my cals some more to see if I need to eat even more to get my weight down. True, I'm losing inches (from gaining muscle which is VERY good) but it would be nice to lose 1-2 lbs weekly (Ed and Andy ... you guys are losing weight so EASILY or seemingly so ... I'm jealous! ).
I'm going to calculate the calories needed by a very active person as opposed to a moderately active person (true I'm a desk jockey by day but I work out intensly 5-6x weekly and I am active on the weekends). It should up my caloric intake by 4-500 cals daily. I will keep tabs and if I see a big gain then I'll have to go back down to 1800-2000 cals daily. The only way to see it work is to experiment!

Small snack - 1 tb of peanut butter this afternoon. 85 calories.
1 cup of cottage cheese later. 180 calories.
Protein smoothie to wind the day down. 430 calories.
Total for today - 1695. A little low. We did run around some, and later had a guest.
Ha ha, but then again .... the fact that I'm a couple hundred cals shy of goal makes up for yesterday's debauchery ... hehe

Diane,
Yes, that was a pleasant suprise. I have not used steppers much (BECAUSE they kill you ) but now is a good time to start training on it. Right now, I'm sure it'll be a stretch to last 5 minutes on it
Hi Ed! It'll put a new twist on my cardio workouts
I bet there's alot of really cool places like that in Calfornia, Jen.
The weekend is good. How's it treating you?
I think my lucky streak ended today, Deb But the $50 was a very very nice suprise.

Bfast: 1 protein smoothie, 508 calories.
I am doing something VERY wrong. I gained 3 lbs last week (which puts me at 199 ) I don't want to weigh over 200 lbs again, it took so long to get under that milestone ... I am beginning to think I'm eating too much @ 2000 cals a day.
Is it possible for a female to gain that much muscle weight in such little time? I know it's possible for male newbies ... if it's muscle then I would not be upset ... it's the prospect of FAT gain that scares me
Damn damn damn. I know the solution is there ... I just have to find it. Maybe go low carb????
Any and all positive input is deeply appreicated!
