That whole heart thing was incredibly overhyped and was zero indication he needed to step away, everything else notwithstanding. The man was crying over it ffs.
It is extremely common (as in I see it a few times a week) that someone's heart goes into atrial fibrillation and we shock them out of it. Even at his age. It isn't like he was going to die from atrial fibrillation or something. It's treatable, fixable and a common occurrence in adult populations. We literally fix this within an hour of you hitting the ER door.
Sorry, but this really got to me for some reason.August 2023:

Really? I've never heart of a-fib being common in athletes. That sure as hell would alarm me, especially if I had received one of the covid vaccines.
I know it's treatable and all that, but it being a common occurrence is is definitely news to me.
No worries, my dude. All good.AcetylCoA gets reps

I don't think I've ever seen a "lose lose" trade quite like Adams to the Raiders
Packers desperately miss him after not giving Rodgers the right weapons... Carr isn't Rodgers, so Adams production should be even greater than it is and should have amounted to more wins than it has
Both teams lose, all players involved lose. If you put him to a lie detector, I bet he's regretting his decision to leave

How are you shocked by this?
Carr has regressed as the season has gone on. The Pittsburgh game was the perfect example.
He overthrows, underthrows, doesn’t go through his progressions, his ball placement is horrible…oh and hes one of the worst in the redzone. I know this because i have seen him play for the last 9 years. If it wasnt for jacobs this team would be worse.
Also this is the main reason
once again renewed questions as to whether he should remain with the team. And, as explained at the time his latest contract was completed, the Raiders have a way to get out from under the bulk of the deal.
But if they’re going to do it, they’ll need to act quickly.
Hyped by the quid-pro-quo crowd as a firm, $40.5 million deal, the truth was and is that Carr received $24.9 million in 2022, with no full guarantees beyond the current season.
Carr has a $32.9 million salary for 2023, which was guaranteed for injury at the time of signing. It, along with $7.5 million in 2024 salary currently guaranteed for injury, becomes fully guaranteed on the third day of the 2023 waiver period.
The waiver period begins after the Super Bowl. If the Raiders are going to cut Carr — and escape that $40.4 million liability — they’ll have a narrow window in which to act.
Any sane organization would do the same.
Honestly i have a feeing they were planning this all along and thats why they brought stidham in since he knows the offense.
Keep in mind Stidham when he played in the preseason the offense was unstoppable and flawless…..Carr played ZERO snaps.Preparedness thread

Well, it's not a good thing. If you end up with atrial fibrillation for life, it increases your risk of stroke significantly and you must take blood thinners. It's pretty rare that someone his age gets it and can't treated/fixed -- as he did. There's a couple rhythms we shock or give drugs to fix that are not a biggie, a-fib and SVT, and we send people back home to follow up with cardiology to see if it'll be a recurrent thing. Sometimes you need a procedure called an ablation to shock a tiny part of your heart to keep it from happening again, fairly benign procedure. A-fib is in about 1-2% of the population, so 1/100 or 1/50 is fairly common in medicine. Living with a-fib is no fun, but an acute episode that is fixed is no biggie overall. I imagine it would be somewhat scary for a world class athlete to go through it because they aren't use to being "sick." I just got irate when it was talked about like the grim reaper had come knocking haha
Steve Young got obliterated at least half a dozen times in his career. It's crazy for me to see the difference of growing up watching as a kid compared to now. Steve Young may have rushed for 1,000 yards and thrown for 4,500 with 50-60 combined touchdowns in today's NFL.August 2023:
