Random question for the "made tons of quick and dirty website" folks here...

Affiliate marketing aside, I was thinking about making a personal website just for my music stuff, and hooking some of my friends up as well. Other than building the whole thing from scratch, what would be a good plugin to build it off of?

Wordpress seems to be more about blogging - this would be a site with musician-oriented sections, like photos, a bio, calendar, pictures, etc... Would wordpress still be ideal for something like that, or perhaps something else would be better?

WordPress is fine for handling all of those. For pictures you can look at Next-Gen Gallery plugin. Bio just set up as a page. There's definitely event or calendar plugins.

Wordpress is ideal for everything imo, blogging, ecommerce, or just a generic website. But obviously the purpose of Wordpress is archiving posts etc and making blogging easier.

I'm gonna eventually start my own .tv domain because i'm going travelling in a year or two and i think it will be awesome to make a video blog so i can show my friends and family what im doing along the way

How do you make a fake ******** profile that will show your demographics ads? I just made a new one but I have no friends because, of course, this person is fake, and it isn't showing any ads.

Do you need friends and an established profile before ads show up? Any ******** advertisers let me know what you do for this.

I did, using Amazon S3 and CloudFront. If you search thread for those, you should be able to find WordPress links.

it takes like 1-3 hours before targeted ads will show up.

I meant a lot of my musician friends at school wanted websites as well, and I was going to help them set up sites for themselves as well. I'm trying to find the easiest way to set it up without having to code templates myself from scratch and waste time reinventing the wheel

Yea you get paid for searches, its not a lot though usually. Tags should already be built in if you are using wordpress. They should be on the right hand site of the screen when you are at the create post screen.

Hey guys, I've been super busy the last week I have provincials this week for weightlifting so I've been getting massages, stretching recovery, plus trying to catch up on school work but after the meet I'm starting out the first site I'm getting excited..

This thread is going to be bumped a lot more often once I do lol so post your websites your traffic might go up haha

I've already found 2 affiliate programs that pay fairly well so I'm excited, I found one that pays 1 euro per click (no purchase required) so that will be my first, the offer doesnt even make any sense because the product they are selling is 37.50 euros? Weird but whatever, its set up with a legit company so im not worried, and i dont have anything to lose either way

Yea you get paid for searches, its not a lot though usually. Tags should already be built in if you are using wordpress. They should be on the right hand site of the screen when you are at the create post screen.

Finally got a niche website up today. It's my first one, not the best but we will see what happens with it. Still in the process of redoing protein-powder-reviews.com I was working on redoing it and ended up deleting everything from it so I had to start from scratch again. Live and learn I guess lol

my whole day has been wasted on trying to install windows 7.

spent half a day backing stuff up, going through files.
then getting windows 7, drivers, all the other apps ready.
then burned windows 7 on a dvd.
then realized that my DVD drive has crapped out and can't read burned discs anymore for some reason.
then tried to install from external hard drive, found out near impossible to do from XP.
don't have a big enough flash drive to hold the installation.
no other computer to take a DVD drive from.

what do I do? FMLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL so angry right now. i dont know what to do with all that anger. asdjkasdlkjasd i guess i have to go and buy a new DVD drive.
